Hi there guys, turned back the pages to Aug 3 2004,

Falchoon mate, you posted this and it sounds like a killer donk, so heres the detalis on it to munch on enjoy.

Found this info on another forum, sounds good though Ithink Ford should move the release date forward ...

While browsing for BA MkII info, I came across something that sounds too good to be true, except it appears we will have to wait for the 2007 Falcon before we see it. But why then are they releasing so much detail now?

Engine specs:

Power: 220kW @ 7200rpm

Torque: 460Nm @ 4600rpm (400Nm from 1200rpm)

Bore: 94mm

Stroke: 96mm

Compression Ratio: 10.0:1

Configuration: Inline 6

Construction: Lightweight Alloy Block and Head, Iron Sleeved Bores, Forged Steel Crankshaft and Rods

Firing Order: 153624

Valve Actuation: 4 Valves per Cylinder, Infinitely Variable Solenoid Actuated Valves

Fuel: Sequential Petrol or LPG Injection

Ignition: Crank Angle Sensor, Coil on Plug, 6 Knock Sensors

Features: Piston Cooling Oil Jets, Electronic Water Pump, Continuously Variable Length Intake Runners, Ceramic Coated Tuned Length Exhaust Headers, Drive-By-Wire

That equates to 3,997 CCs

When asked why this motor has been such a well kept secret until now new Ford Australia Boss Tom Gorman said that a separate division was created for this motor with part of the development work being done in the US. “We wanted the BA motor to be a quick freshen up on the existing iron block 4.0L to hold us out until it was ready. The new motor, however, was developed secretly and has run ahead of schedule, so we have decided to release it in the upcoming all new Falcon. It is big news for Ford Australia and is a motor ahead of it’s time – we weren’t expecting this to be ready until much later.”

So I don't want to send our good members to other forums, but where did this info come from?

Will this be the run of the mill donk for XT type vehicles or will it be an XR6 up grade?

Sounds to me like 220kw is right on the money to take out the new Expensive Daewoo and Toyota, but was this a donk dreamed up in the days of $1.00 for 98 ron fuel.

I still like the sound of this donk and it stands to reason that the XR6 turbo Orian will be in the area of 280kw, going on the factory 50 to 60 kw extra when you strap a Turbo to a donk. That leads to massive numbers for the rest of the Orian range.

The Rums are kicking in so I'd best shut up now.

Not sure...August 2004 was a long time ago...I'm flat out remembering what happened yesterday :freak:

Will be good if it happens.

There was an article in this months wheels where ford confirmed the orion will be powered by an inline 6 but refused to give any more details. The article goes on to say it is expected the current motor will be upgraded to meet euro 4 emission specs and carried over.

Given that the current motor is better than both the Expensive Daewoo alloytec offerings, the 380 V6 and not far behind the Aurion V6 I would expect it to debut in the orion with around 200kw.

So what is the real advantage of having an all alloy motor.. Has it got something to do with heat??
