Why now in NSW do we pay an annual fee for customised number plates. Since July 2005 (or 2004) the RTA decided to charge all of us an anuual fee for customised plates regardless of the arrangement of letters and numbers.

We can all get standard numberplates that the RTA just randomly issue for a one off fee but if we want customised plates we pay a much bigger fee first up, and so be it, but now and each year thereafter we pay the same/similar annual fee.

All I ask is why?? Whats changed in the registration system of our vehicles that requires customised licence plate holders to pay some whopping fee each year and how is it justified? Granted we should pay the fee to have them initially produced but what costs are incurred by the NSW RTA that requires them to charge hundreads of dollars each year you keep the plates.

My plates were damaged years ago by a truck that ran me up the rear end and there starting to show there age. Now as ive had these made up prior to this new system than I dont have to pay the annual fee each year, however as I now want them re-made and issued I will be reuired to pay the one off $170 fee plus $90 every year I keep them.

Is the RTA just capitilising on the populatity of pensonlised plates or what?

What you other states think of this fraud?????????

It was introduced at the same time as the cost of ordering personalised plates was dropped.

It's purely a deceptive measure by the money hungry NSW government to rip off people even further. The perception is that the plates are now cheaper (to order) and therefore more people are enticed to order them. A lot of the younger/new purchasers don't know that there wasn't previously an annual fee on this style of plate. So they are sucked in quite simply and then have to fork out the $100 or whatever each and every year thereafter in order to keep their plates. Just pure government greed and deception at work.

NSW is governed by turds that will rape the motorist at every opportunity it gets and as stated above give us some of the worst roads in the world for our troubles. WA dirt roads are generally of far better quality than our tar roads.

I don't mind paying a one off for the plate but they can stick their annual fee up Iemma's crooked @rse.

Oh, and don't think it'll be better if Debnam wins either.

Nah, it's too small an issue that doesn't get the publicity required for them to overturn it.

The NSW Govt expects us to all bend over and cop it up the :nyyaah: , while we have to pay for the KY.

Absolute f*cking joke I say!

Nothing but the good old R.T.A trying to capitalise on the popularity of personalised numberplate's as said.

The annual fee on the plate's I have on my car are $400 a year! Why can't they just have a once only upfront payment of $1000 or something...

Dont think NSW are the only one's ripping people off.

If you want personalised plates here in the ACT, be prepared to fork out large.

Say for example, you wanted TYPHOON. $3500 thanks.

Or F6. Yep, that'll be 3.5K.

OK, we only pay that fee once, and the plates are ours for life, but they sure dont miss us. Just hope you dont turn your car over too often.... :spoton:

When I 1st got my plates in 2000 they were $324 a yr. When they got stolen beginning of last yr they were $400 a yr. And the worst thing about it is when I went 2 get them back, they wouldnt give it just for the simple fact that if I was to get pulled over, the plates would appear to be stolen, and id have to explain to the police y I have stolen plates. :gooff::gooff:

Back to the topic did you know that now euro plates in NSW now have an annual fee of $130\yr. Dats for existing and new euro plate holders. nooowwww dats just plain :msm: wrong....

DIE YOU BASTARRRDSSS :rl:

I has the same issue with my plates being stolen but I had them remade and its only come up once in about 7 years. They come up as beoing stolen but they are linked to the car that they were orginally on, so it does not apply to me any more as I have diff car then waht they were stolen off.
