Instead drive off as soon as the engine has been started, but drive gently until it reaches operating temp."MAIN ARTICLEI've always practised this and I dont see any point in idling of a morning, just dont floor it till youve warmed up.There's a lot of old wives tales going around, and this is another that you can ditch from thy memory banks. I dont let it build boost until its warmed right up (normally about ten minutes) that usually gives th tyres abit of time to warm up as well... If you drive off when it's cold you can feel it trying to surge forward, even when braking.The only problem is I only live approx 5 mins from work and the car never fully warms up. 937 Member 266 Member For: 18y 7m 20d Posted 01/12/06 10:38 PM Share Posted 01/12/06 10:38 PM My T takes about 3 km for the water temp to show normal working temp, the oil temp gauge takes 13 km to 20 km's to show the right working temp.On start up my rpm's show 1,250 at idle, and once normal temp is reached about 900rpm's.When I use my T I start and drive away. When my car starts it sits around 5.0l per hour. I let it warm up untill it gets to around 3.0 litres per hour and also by this time the temp guage has also moved.I dont care what so called experts say about this.
