Coming from NZ, cars were cheap-as-chops..... no freakin govt tarrifs over there. Had a nice Black Skyline, R33, lowered, 17" Mags etc.... fell in love with 6 cylinder cars from there. Not clumsy around corners like the 8's, but enough ompf with a few friends in the car to still perform. :P Got my XR6T through a novated lease at work, which is really nice when it comes to gas and insturance!..... not to mention the cost of 18" feet nowadays! Always been a Ford guy other than the Skyline.... Cortina, Telstar Ghia and XR6 VCT......

Can't wait to hear about what kw you crazy modifiers actually get out of these cars in the future.... Anyone actually heard of a 6 cylinder turbo car with 4 ltr capacity???? ANYWHERE in the world??? A lot of potential there...... memories of Bathurst when the GTRs cleaned up..... :)

Business Car, "upgrading" from an 8 to a 6.. it's just unheard of... would have thought it would have been the other way around!!!

Anyway, the XR8 has to go... kind of sad in a way really. The supercars just won't be the same for me now

I've owned a lot of cars ... way too many actually. Only ever had Fords or Holdens though (except for my Suzuki 800 on my 'L's). KB Laser Sports 1.5ltr .. 2 x Escort RS 2000 2ltr .. VK V8 5.0ltr Commodore .. VN SS 5.0ltr and I was looking for another V8 when my brother suggested the EF XR6. I said "A 6 ??? Are you mad ?" Sure enough .. the XR6 was the way to go. EF XR6 4.0ltr .. EL XR6 4.0ltr and now .. AU XLS Ute 4.0ltr. I was invited to the BA launch and decided the GT was for me. But now ... thanks mainly to this forum and you fellas, I've become acquainted with the XR6T and I will be ordering mine within the next few weeks. I know I will be waiting but I'm sure it will be worth it.

l've been a car nut ever since l got my licence and have always loved aussie muscle cars. X-U1 Torana followed by an A9X hatch and sedan, then went Japanese for a while with an MX-5, then Verada (well partially japanese).

We bought a TS-50 about 2 years ago, it was a great car, but when l heard that Ford was working on a turbo 6 the seed was planted. When l found out more info, read reviews and seen pics, well that was it, l was sold. Hot sixes are awesome, the X-U1 has always been my favourite car.

Now l am married with 3 young kids; the XR6T lets me have my cake and eat it too - to coin a phrase :)

:D

I've had a multitude of cars, appart from a worked Mini Clubman GT in my youth they have been family hacks (mostly Fords of various models) with the financial constraints of mortgages and three kids, I have got my performance kicks from motorcycles. Lately Italian ones.

The 6 year old EF2 Fairmont has been a comfortable, reliable, if unspectacular ride.

Hopefully soon, the Ducati can have a new mate to share the garage with.

OK, Ford have had my order for two working days. Who should I be hassling about the delivery date?

I have been driving a VSII Clubsport for the past 5 years and love it, as well as company cars before then. I love having the power and sound of a V8 and believed I was here to stay on the V8's (work gives me a petrol card). However, I have always wanted a turbo, but they were always too small, made the wrong sounds and just seemed too tinny.

I drove the new clubsport, VX SS, and a number of other machines to find THE car. I am a car nut and have been for years, so I want to know that my purchase will be good. Heard rumours of this (XR6T) and thought it's worth a look. Then I drove the XR6 in standard form and was very impressed. It was a great drive and quick (and the turbo is 30 - 40 % more powerfull). Then researched the turbo, and the worst thing I could find said about it is the foot rest does not exist.

Sign me up...I have probably read 30 articles on the car on the web and they are all good. I still haven't driven the thing, so I hope it's good. Only a week or so to go now....Then I can say what I think.

I just grabbed this from a few weeks ago and thought that some more what attracted you to the car stories would be good reading.

Off you go...
