Looking For A First Car.

I'm currently on the hunt for my first car, not buying anytime soon but I want to start my research. I've fallen in love with the XR6 but unfortunately cannot drive the XR6T on my Ps. So im currently looking into buying an XR6 (non turbo) manual probably first series BA 2002 as they are they cheapest, I've seen a few go for 18-19. I have a few questions n queries.

1. First of all, would you honestly recommend such a car for a first car? Not just because of its power, but for also for the costs of petrol n maintenance.

1a. How does the XR6 go for fuel economy?

2. I remember reading somewhere when the the BA first came out that the manual versions had some clutch complications and they had to be fixed, what actually happened and have all the issues been resolved?

3. The speedometer of the XR6s dont have a 'red line' section on the RPM meter, but there is a 'red line' section for the Kph section from 120kmh to 260kmh, I have no idea why this is so could someone please explain it to me

4. Just out of curiosity, is there anyword from Ford about a new falcon? Just curious as Ford and Expensive Daewoo usually release their new Commodores and Fords very close to each other and the VE has been out for a while now.

NO, THEY ARE BIG HEAVY RWD AND CAN BE A HANDFUL WITH AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER AT THE WHEEL. YOU WOULD BE BETTER TO GET A COROLLA/PULSAR/FWD 4CYL

THEY AVERAGE ABOUT 9L /100KM, BUT CAN DRINK WHEN DRIVEN HARD

YOU ARE THINKING OF THE TYPHOON. THE FIRST BA'S CAM OUT WITH A 5SP MANUAL THAT IS OK FOR A STOCK BOX, BUT THE NEW 6SPEED MANUAL IS MUCH BETTER. THE BA'S ALSO HAD THE ION 4SPEED AUTO, WHERE THE BF'S CAM WITH THE ZF 6SPEED AUTO.

BUYING ANY CAR THAT IS OVER 2 YEARS SHOULD BE SORTED OUT AND WELL RUN IN.

THE REDLINE VARIES DEPENDING ON WHAT GEAR YOU ARE IN. I NEVER LOOK AT THE TACHO AS YOU CAN HEAR THE MOTOR AND KNOW WHEN YOU ARE GETTING CLOSE, OR YOU JUST HIT THE REV LIMITER, EITHER WAY IT IS TIME TO CHANGE GEAR.

THE ORION IS DUE OUT IN 2008, THERE IS VERY LITTLE KNOWN AS I THINK THEY HAVE HAD TO RETHINK THE WHOLE CAR AFTER THE VE RELEASE AND THE PRICE OF FUEL.

hey mate, good choice for first car..... 18-19 is a good price to but I have seen turbos go for 22-23, just put the car in your parents name and presto, u have a pretty cool car.

When did the N/A XR6 get the option of the T56 Manual? Was it BAII or BFI?

I know that it got a sixspeed but im not sure its the tremec one

Go the T and de-badge it I did it for awhile when I was on my p's if your from vic it's only a $100 fine no demerit points and they dont keep a record of how many times you have been done.

Also insurance (Just cars) will insure you aswell but you will have to pay for it.

But them again maybe not for a first car but your falking out the money so buy what you want not what you have to.

Q.1) My first car is my XR6 Turbo that I own now. All I can say is get wat u want not wat others tell u to get. I got the turbo and it felt so different from the ford stationwagon that I was driving at the time. Aslong as u dont go crazy first night and crash u should be right, you get used to the car and the power and its all good from then on.

Q.3 Redline......wat redline.......lol.....only rev limiter
