Hey all,

Well chewed the Diff in the T today, so now I'm looking at what diff gears to put in the new diff. Looking at 4.10 gears over the 3.73 gears but not real sure. Just wondering if anyone that has 4.10 can give me a bit of info on how they find it driving.

Cheers

all our rearend upgrades that we do we install 4.11 gears into them and they work very well, my xr8 ute and xr6 ute both run 4.11's one with the factory auto and one with a powerglide auto

With your T-56, it depends on your driving....

I would recommend it if you do a lot of city driving.... the lower gearing gets you off the mark quicker, and 2nd,3rd & 4th are far more flexible ... it feels like you've picked up a 15% power increase.

I wouldn't recommend it if you do:

1: a lot of country driving: 6th gear is too tall for my liking

2: you want to drag race: as you'll be slower over the quarter, as you'll need 5th gear.

I've had the 3.46, 3.73 & 4.11 diffs (plus 3 different gearboxes), so it all comes back to what you want. In my view a 3.90 (if available), would be about perfect, and the best overall compromise. I've got this now by using the 4.11 diff and larger tyres, and that works well my larger laggier turbo, and the city driving I do.

Note that most manufacters set up gearing so the 2nd gear must pull 100kph, so they are unlikely to use a lower diff than the 3.73.

As for autos, I doubt you use the 4.11 diff with the 6 speed auto, as 1st is already very low, and would be useless. As Steve suggests, would be OK with a 2 speed powerglide for drag racing application.
