What Are Us Vic Guys Doing For Xmas

Having heard that at this time of year, some of you don't want to drive to far for lunch, how about doing a cruise around Mornington Peninsula, as stang suggested. This was actually raised in Vic Chat so maybe this is a good chance to do that and combine it with a Christmas lunch somewhere. I guess we need to decide soon where to have lunch around there as places will be booking up fast around that time of year.

I'll have a think/ask around about the route and some restaurants out that way. If anyone would like to recommend a place to eat out that way, please do so by posting up below. All suggestions welcomed.

Here's my first go at a proposed route.

If we leave Melbourne 9:30am we should be okay heading out that way. Perhaps a circuit run along the back beach roads (Somerville, etc), head inland through Red Hill, then up Arthurs Seat, down again, head out towards Portsea and maybe lunch at the pub/cafe/restaurant in or near Portsea?

So long as we finish up lunch by 3pm, we should be right heading back home as that will be before most of the Sunday traffic heading home back into Melbourne. And that would leave time if you have something else on during the evening.

Date proposed is still Sun 17 Dec. That is the last Sunday before school holidays start, so hopefully, the Peninsula won't be too crowded.

What do you guys think and who would be interested? If so, I'll post up proper details at the start of this thread (taking into consideration your suggestions that come in in the meantime). Thanks.

I've made a booking for table for 10 (can increase numbers) out on the terrace of the Portsea Hotel for Sunday 17 December 2006 at 12:30pm.

I'd like to know who would like to join us on a cruise up to the pub which is highly recommended by TUFXRT6 as having the best beer garden EVVVVEEERRRRRR (thanks TUFXRT6)

- an interesting route to the Portsea pub from Melbourne.
