Thanks guys!!

Bloody awesome mate. Top stuff.

What resolution did you have to run the laptop in?  or was it a widescreen laptop to start with

It is not a widescreen laptop. The resolution I used 720x480 (for the DSUB out only), but other resolutions do work with different settings.

Nice setup mate.

Im about to embark on the same type of journey as you.

I have my aux audio cable (picked up for $33 from Ford), im about to make my VGA cable tonight.

Will start the testing this weekend using a laptop. Once I get that going, ill work on my mini pc to put in the boot.

Quick update from me.

Got my cable made and have a laptop in the car. Initial tests had me baffled as to why my screen wasnt doing what it should be doing.

After playing with some advanced settings I finally managed to get 'duel' monitors configured (so its working like 2 monitors).

However, I still have the issues of trying to get it working correctly just using the car LCD.

More tests to come tomorrow night after my drive through the You Yangs.

P.S Thanks to Panda for his guide on making the ICC cable!

Bain I sent you a PM to see if I can help you. The audio cable you bought will not work unless you are a fan of abismal quality and painful noise. Read my first long post on how to get sound working good ;)

The dual monitors is the only way I got mine to work. One monitor is the laptop LCD (which is secondary and I have nothing displaying on it) and the vga out which is primary and displays everything (start menu, programs etc).

Learn to use alt+space you will need it :)
