My windscreen washer has decided to stop working. It sounds like the pump/motor/whatever is still functioning as I can hear it when I attempt to spray the windscreen, however the pathetic trickle of water that was spraying out has now reduced to none....

it's been suggested that the washer bottle or lines may have become clogged, which sounds reasonable, but has anyone else experienced this?

if so, any suggestions on a remedy (like how to remove washer bottle etc) would be greatly appreciated....

Check that the hoses that feed the squirter's haven't popped off. I had this problem recently on my beast. The easy way to tell is to pop the hood and have someone give it a flip while you look, or if you're alone, flip the switch and then go look for the wet patch.

Ooookay then. :spoton:

On a serious note, a lot of BA's had an issue where the fluid flowed back into the reservoir leaving the lines dry. The effect is that you can activate the washer, hear the pump working but nothing happens. BUT. Hold the washer switch down long enough and hey presto!

Just need to give the pump enough time to fill the lines back up. I still have this issue on the Phoon.

I assume you've checked the bottle to see if there is any water/fluid in it?

had the same prob not long ago, where the line joins under the windscreen on the passenger side, just pull them appart and clear the line to remove a possible air lock, worked a treat for me

Had the same thing a couple of times myself...thinking surely the f*cking thing can't be empty already! :roflmbo:

On that note wasn't it nice of ford to remove the low washer fluid warning light on the BA? At least they put the washer delay thingo back on the BF (flick the lever and the jets pump for a few seconds)

Yeah the wash bottle is full. I initially thought it must run dry, but no ammount of topping up seems to get it spraying.

I have the same problem. Was bloody annoying the other night when I was driving directly into the sun, hit the water to remove the bug splatter, and presto, smeared bug guts and no water! I couldn't see a damn thing coming over the rise. I was virtually laying down in the seat looking through a small patch of windscreen that was relatively clean :spoton:

It was fortunate that I had a small bottle of water that my wife had left in the car and I was able to pour that directly on the screen. When I got home I tried the needle down the jet trick (as I used to do on the xD) but to no avail.

I had this problem in mine a while ago. I ended up taking the hose out of the connection under the windscreen and blowing through the hose to hopefully unclog it, and eventually it started working.

Whether it was what I did that fixed it I have no idea, but it started working again.

I actually bought the low washer level sensor a long time back and fitted it as one of the very first mods I did to my car. I have the Lux pack however and as a result the plug that goes into the low water level sensor was already there, I just had to unwrap it from some insulation tape on the wiring loom and plug it in. I obviously also had to drill the hole in the bottom of the water reservoir in order to fit the sensor.

On the lux pack vehicles with the high series instrument cluster, the low washer water level indicator is in the bottom left LCD on the tachometer.

Cheers,

Ross
