I agree, I dont Reckon Roy boy gives two hoots about being called a Monkey and would prefer to let his bat do the talking. I rekon this has come from outside influences after Australias tour to India last year. I rekon was Ponting was told to report this incident to.

The ICC put ALL cricketing nations on notice after what happened in India. Anyone who steps over the line is to be reported immediately to the umpires on the field and the match referee. Doesn't matter if it was a millimeter or a mile, go there and you're gone. They laid down this edict because Ponting never put in a complaint over the October incident despite having a mountain of evidence to back it up.

This time Ponting didn't have much choice once Harbhajan made it obvious to everyone in the stadium that he went after Symonds. The umpires were already making moves to step in when Punter got in Harbhajan's face. Anyone who saw the guilty looks on Harbhajan and can read lips knows that he immediately started apologising to anyone within earshot. Sachin got him to rethink that line as he got called over to the two umpires, which is when "The Wall" got constructed. :finger:

I was working in India during October when all this monkey nonsense began (but couldn't go see a game) and although the locals enjoyed the vigour used by their team in battling us Aussies, most agreed that it got way out of hand. They pride themselves on being tough, but honest folk. Unfortunately the near-religious status placed on that team means that mistakes "never happen" and damn all those who dare accuse their heroes of such transgressions. :spoton:

I'm sure Harbhajan is a great guy off the field, but that cold hard fact is that everyone was on notice so there is no excuse for his actions.

On a side note, do you reckon umpire Benson has been in this scenario before? He immediately shielded his mouth so we couldn't tell what he was saying. Big Brother really wanted to know what was being said... dammit!

Not everyone will be privy to what was said on Fox Sports News at lunch today, can't help it if I found an excuse to avoid work again, LOL.

Symonds was quoted from a soon to b released issue of Ralph,FHM or one of those mags as saying that he didn't consider Monkey to b offensive nor did he consider it 2 b racially of importance and was ashamed/embarrased and even guilty to c that an Indian fan being arrested and jailed during the "monkey" antics in India during the 20-20 championships

Now lets hope this doesn't turn into a race war.

I am an Indian guy born and bred in NZ. I follow a bit of cricket and will always go for India over NZ. I am not a hard out fan of sports as cars are my thing.

I know this may sound patronising to India, but come on there are many times when you can FULLY lip read what players are saying to each other on opposite teams and this never gets called up on, like it did for Harbhajan and its alot worse than "MONKEY".

Maybe Harbhajan was provoked? who knows really. but to ban someone for saying monkey? that's a bit poor.

I think that the Indian cricket board are a tad silly for stopping the tour, however I still will defend them in their decision because of what I have previously seen on TV when players are bad mouthing each other.

Personally, I think that everyone should just let their batting, bowling and feilding do the talking.

my 2.5cents anyway.

Hey cool someone to chuck sh*t at, LOL. But seriously man, this has come about as a direct result of the 20-20 cup in India, if you read Lord Cyric's last post it will tell you exactly why the turbinator should of thought of something else to say and why the reaction has been somewhat severe

HAHAHAHA

yeah there are two things you can mock me about regarding sport! supporting the Kiwi's and India! LOL

hmmm yeah I guess that because everyone was on notice than he should have known not to say anything.

You guys agree that there should be a bit of banter right? give and take a bit like XRTPSI said!

For mine what is said on the field stays on the field. Roy was giving Harbajan a night spray and he replied in kind. End of the story.

Not unlike being called a Stooge, people are sooooo sensitive LOL
