I was just going through the reciepts for the T and counted up how many pairs of rear tyres I have been through. Now I don't know if this is excessive or not, but in 63,247 kms I have had 7 pairs of rear shoes, 8 including the factory dunlops, and 2 sets of fronts, 3 including the factory dunlop.

I type this, cos I have just booked in for another set of rears tommorrow morning, and after a few quick sums, realised, it is more expensive to feed the T than a 3rd world country!!

Just for the rear of the car, 4 sets at 340 tyre, 2 sets at 310 tyre, 1 at 345 a tyre and tommorrows set 365 a tyre, ( I am getting new realeased wider rubber )

so for the maths......

2720

1240

690

730

=

$5380 tyres in 2 years for the rear!

Fronts add 1320 and I can see why the wife says it's me or the car!! :innocent: She can't afford to feed both it and I, lucky I did my ticket and she can now save some $$$$ while she drives it.

Current avg fuel per trip metre is 22.7ltr/100k's motorpass statement has it 21.3ltr/100k's.

Anyone looking for a well maintained and hardly thrashed T?? Gimme a call NOT!

having gone through a set of rear tyres in 7000km and now sitting on 12500km and the new rear 20 inch tyres looking to have seen better days, think I might get 5000km more out of them I know where ya coming from about feeding the T, not to mention the fuel bill which isnt as expensive as yours, but expensive enough. :w00t2:

Mate that is serious tyre usage! Have you ever thought of steel radials? NO, not steel-belted, just plain STEEL. They might last you a bit longer.

:w00t2::smilielol:

PS Although now I think back on it ... when I first did my turbo on the ZL I chewed the rears in just 5000km ... my explanation to the treasurer at the time was I could only tune it "on the road" as the nearest dyno was 150km away. It didn't take her long to point out that the 150km drive would have cost a lot less in fuel then the tyres LOL.

I guess I really am an old :censored:

45000 km, and I've only had to pay for 2 rear Dunlops and a pair of MT's.

(I got 4 freebie Dunlops under warranty at 22000 km)

I can't complain about the factory 17" Dunlops.

Holy Fark, that is some incredible usage. My OEM 17 Dunlops lasted 34000 km.

I'd look at changing the rear tyres to Nankangs NS2's.

They provide more traction than most $300-400 tyres as a result of less wheel spin they last longer too.

They are quite soft compound but you'll save alot of money with no loss of traction, cant go wrong.
