Are you sure it is Avgas ?

The reason I ask is that Avgas contains lead and is not available for cars and very illegal to use.

There are high octaine fules like C16/ELF/etc. that are 100-130RON, I would find out what the correct name of the fuel is. It is also possible to retune the car for a lower RON fuel like V-Max or Ultimate, unless it is running big boost or compression.

Also the 98RON and booster could result in any RON figure. We need to know how much and what type of booster is being used and also how many liters of fuel are being used.

You should not just rely on a full tank and a bottle of booster to be safe.

Avgas 100/130 is dyed green

The 100/130 grade within each of these specifications has a lean mixture Motor Octane rating of 100 and a rich mixture Supercharge Octane Performance number of 130.

Currently, there are 22 approved “Issuing Organizations”, mainly speedboat, hot rod, and speedway, but including CAMS and the Australian Historic Motoring Federation (GPO Box 2862, Canberra, ACT, 2601). These groups issue “Leaded Fuel Passbooks”, on behalf of the government, to members of their associated clubs which allow the purchase of Avgas from your local supplier (mainly airports and race circuits.)

Hope that helps

All I know is that the guy he bought it off told him it was tuned for and run on avgas but it could also be run on a full tank of ultimate with a bottle of octane booster. I've told him to have it retuned to use pump fuel because it guzzles and he drives it on the street but I think he just likes having the bragging rights of owning a car that runs on avgas :yeahyeah:

So, it's hard to come by then? We were under the impression you could just buy it from a local performance shop :innocent:

Shows how much we know!

There is unleaded avgas available, in 100-130. Last lot I had it was dyed Blue.

was good, a mate was an aircraft mech, and he used to grab the drain off that they couldnt put back in and bring it home.. old Yamie loved the gear!

He'll need to get the car retuned on pump fuel A.S.A.P, because the bragging right's of running Avgas aren't going to be worth sh*t when he blow's a hole through the engine block, running incorrect fuel.

If he's rich, get him to have the car tuned on proper racing fuel (C16 etc), might even pick up a bit more power.

as everyone has said, tell him to tune it for pump fuel.

Whats the point of having a car to drive everyday if you can't fill it up at most places?? Running a car on avgas is barely a bragging right  shows some what stupidity for a daily driven car... sure if it was a dyno queen used to summernats, or some other show car that is rarely driven.. but for the street :w00t2:

Brian or Simon (extreme's) car, running 500rwkw on pump fuel, now that's a bragging right :pooh:
