Hi Flow Turbo Installation

Yeah, it's the next one up over the stock setting. 7-8psi I think it is. I've never used the 11.9psi one but will install it and see how it goes. I've a 15psi one sitting next to my pc for over a year now, and could give that one a try as well.

I used the 13psi (???) one I think. You should always use a actuator rating equal to whatever the minimum boost you want. So if you want 15psi don't bother screwing around with a 10psi actuator, as it reduces the control range avialable at the high pressure range (ie say you want 18psi up top). When you install it make sure you get the preload correct. Basically you need to fit it so when it's not on the flapper pin, it has half a hole offset. So you need to pull against the spring by half a hole length to get over the pin. It should have an adjustable length rod, but you still need to get it correct before putting the circlip on, cause the adjuster doesn't have a left/right thread (ie length is not changed by screwing the hex joiner rod), hence it can't be tensioned after it is connected. If you don't pretension them correctly you get bleed, and it makes the boost response lazy on the bottom end.

I agree the power is dying way too early - on the dyno. Checking boost on the road it's making 17psi from 3500rpm to 6000rpm. I washed the car this afternoon and noticed the bootlid was covered in rubber. I suspect the wheels are spinning on the dyno which may be reducing load on the engine. I'll be buggered if I can strap the car down any harder! I'll give Turbotech a call and organise to check the car on their dyno.

I saw the dyno sheet of the A6 that went 350rwkw (I assume it's the one Simon tuned), but looking at that graph torque is 200nm less than what I'm getting. The turbo upgrade could be part of the problem, with exhaust manifold back pressure a possible contributing factor. I'll also reiterate the boost I'm running is peaking @ 15psi in the mid range and tapering to 10psi @ peak rpm, which may be indicative of the load being lost due to wheelspin. I cannot compare mine against the A6 you mention, as without all the data we'd simply be guessing. Where's the boost graph?

I have the same turbo modification and found that the internal soleniod wasn't up to controlling the boost properly with the modified turbo. It would surge occasionally and become erractic under hard acceleration. I replaced it with an electronic boost controller (eboost2) and now it works perfectly. The car hasn't been finally tuned yet but it made 363rwkw at 17psi in over 40degree heat on 98ron fuel. The boost controller is great as you can run 3 different boost levels, I use 10psi mostly for driving now on the street. I'd imagine there's another 20rwkw in it with slightly leaner afrs (under 12:1 now) and another pound of boost.

As for the traction on the dyno problem, yes it is a big issue. With a customers stage IV car (800hp turbo and external gate) we had to get 4 fat buggers in the back of the ute to keep it on the rollers :omg:. If it starts to ride up on the front roller the reading wont be accurate so get some guys in it.

Well, I picked up the phone today and briefly spoke to Dave, after your post about me picking up another 30-40rwkw with their exhaust. I explained the mods I have, power it makes and the boost it's running.

"Nope, don't think so. Unlikely" and words to that effect were said.

OH, turbo is 61mm wheel, .70 comp cover.

How much did this cost, and did it cover installation of new bearings, any possible machining and variable speed rebalancing?

Nah, it's the replacement from when mine seized. normal turbo just with a .70 AR front cover. New new new..

This F6 is simply running a standard stage 2, we did upgrade the fuel pump and when I left Sydney it was making the standard 330 rwkw.It has since had an engine pipe and cat fitted and I believe has now got around the 365 rwkws. Although the BF range do tend to make a little more power in both standard form and with edit upgrade,I first thought this may have been due to the different engine pipe and cat of course along with the different cams. I now think that the BA cat and engine pipe MAY be better than the BF as Jim's F6 was a little down compared to BA F6's this seems to have been rectified with the engine pipe and cat.It is still running the standard exhaust.

If the BF F6 is fitted with a full Nizpro exhaust system what sort of RWKW's would you expect?

Jason ... I've noted you've many variances to the complete Nizpro Stage II + kit such as your choice of intercooler, injectors, and of course your PCM tune itself! These maybe contributing factors as to why your cars not producing 390 rwkw like several east coast Nizpro equipped BF F6's have been doing for several months now!
