The problem with politicians is we do not pay enough money, so we get crap. It's like any job, you need to pay for quality people. I think the PM only gets about $250,000 per year. HE should get $2mill as any CEO of the top 50 companies would be on more than that.

With low pay and responsibility, corruption is bound to happen. While that NSW guy is a rock spider and his position has nothing to do with his offences, most politicians are on the take or have been approached.

And these are the bastar*s who are making laws as if they were whiter than white :spoton:

We are already wayyy too far into the nanny society, where one small group of adults (the pollies) think they know better (and are better) than the rest of us, and tighten the grip on soociety so hard, that all initiative an individualism vaporises

I think that a communist population had more freedoms than we have now. If it is not terrorisim, its liabilities. The seem to make laws about anything and everything, thinking we are being protected, when infact we are being exploited and treated as children.

Bring back natural selection and common sence laws, not cotton wool protect us from life laws.

I agree with Zap you get what you pay for. Get rid of the state Governments, have one lot of 'common' federal laws and have local super councils administor and deal with local issues.

Getting rid of the state governments will provide plenty of funds to ensure quality people in the right roles, remove the excessive and expensive levels of beuracratic duplication, eliminate wasteful turf protecting of state pollies trying to justify their existence, and importantly free up huge sums of money for much needed major infrastructure projects.

Good in theory unfortunately will never happen :roflmbo:

Funny enough I agree with this one, they are paid absolute pitance so we get dickheads...

But anyone smart and who has a clue would go into business, not politics. Lets face it, in business you have far greater control over the laws \ policies than politicians, you can do what you want as you don't realy care if people don't like you as you don't have an election to win every 3 years. Plus with your own set of political lobist to help ensure you get your way you can easily convince elected officials on the "best course of action"...
