I know C&V use them as I have seen them on 3 XR6T's that I know about

So guys, those of using the eboost2 does it completely replace the factory boost control solenoid (ie uses it own solenoid), or does it use the factory one, or is it in series with the factory one. I would assume the first case ??

Also what maximum boost have you managed to successfully control ?

One boost approaches 20-21psi it seems like it's very difficult to get more out of the factory solenoid, but I know the turbo can do it :spoton: !!

Cheers

Robin.

Its sure does mate. its a much better quality SMC solenoid valve. :spoton:

A cheaper option is in most cases it's the factory solenoid that can't handle the upping of the boost.

You can buy the solenoid that the e-boost and Autronic ECU etc use, it's called a MAC valve and it's $70 or so for the 3 port version.

A few WRX guys use this with "EDIT" to solve the sh*tty factories attempt at boost control when doing more then just a TBE and CAI.

Does it require an actuator mod?

Oh and how does the PCM not have a dummy spit? It thinks its controlling boost to a value x, when the e-boost is setting it to x +/- ??? Or does the PCM start controlling fuel and timing by MAP sensing?

I am running eboost2 and it is great.

C and V did it for me and back to back dyno running same boost there is a massive diffrence mid range.

and for some reason I pulled about 6klw on the same boost up top as well..

it also controls overboost it that is a problem for you.

it gives you boost control at the touch of a button.

i ran my stock actuator for over 12months with the eboost and had no dramas. only changed it when i fitted the new motor. Simon has written a tune for the maximum boost i wish to run. As far as i know the engine always uses load/map sensing to control fuel and timing so as long as your boost level stays within your edited tuness specs you wont have a drama...next time we catch up steve you can go for a drive and we'l have a play with the eboost and i'l show you what it can do...we all know how much you like electronic gismo...(oh and it lights up blue as well.... :gooff: )

so if you wind the boost down with your ebc will your car run rich because the edit map has been set up for a particular afr and it wont know that boost is missing??

From what simon has explained to me the car knows how much air is going in via map sensing and what mixture is coming out the back from the hego sensor (in closed loop mode) so running lower boost is no different to running around off boost or with the lesser throttle opening on boost.
