They all know the police cars by their call sign I had an XR8 marked car fly past me the other day. Scared the beejeezus out of me too. I saw him do the U turn and put on the flashers and was preparing to slow down (pull over) but then I heard him wind it up and he went between myself and an oncoming truck (on a single lane highway) to get the guy right at the front. I could've sworn our mirrors were going to kiss . Sounded very bloody nice though I would've moved over but the gravel at the side of the road and the massive craters some like to call potholes were very convincing not to do so.
