it's not like they have to tell FMC that your car has been modded.

They do now.

You'll find any suspect claims will result in an inspector coming to look at your car.

Adam is right and it has been like that for some time.

Ian

I'll third that.

 Hi Guys,

To those who don't know I have a 2004 BAXR6 Turbo Mk1, Ex NSW Police Highway Patrol Car.

Firstly!

Can anyone tell me what mods (if any, and I'm sure there has to be some) do the police do to their Highway T's and what do they change back when they get rid of them. When it comes to ford warranty I have had no problems. Rotors/Brake Pads/Seat Repair/Water Pump/Steering/Rubbers/Diff Mount/Windscreen/fog light/Water Hose/Headlight

Also has anyone else had problems with their stereo. When Im playing cd's and drive over a bump I get a static sound on the left hand side. When I switch it over to radio its fine. Switch back to cd and get static. Leave it of cd and listen to radio for a while then eventually turn cd back on and its fine (until you hit another decent bump). We have already had the left rear speaker replaced but I reckon its the unit itself. Ford are looking at replacing the unit but are hesitant because each time we have taken it down to show them it wont do it.

Not sure about your stereo problem but as far as modding they are stock mechanically AFAIK (Slymeat may be able to confirm). The only mod of sorts that they might do is the Police speedo readout where you can get your speed readout digitally in the area where you normally get your fuel consumption, DTE etc. This is available to plebs like ourselves but you have to take your car to the dealer so they can hook up their WDS computer and do it. They may also (not 100% sure) have a higher output alternator as all the extra lights, sirens and radios chew extra current.

We had an ex police chaser get traded at our dealership, white xr6t. The only things it had was the police mode digital speedo, and the upgraded brakes with the ford blue/black calipers(not brembos) with the eliptical slotted rotors, but I have seen one other turbo with the same rotors, and as far as I'm away the rotors were the only difference, the calipers were still a 2 piston sliding housing type on the front, and single piston sliding housing on the rear.
