My mechanic has told me that there is a restrictor in the oil inlet to the turbo to reduce the oil pressure in the bearings. The restrictor fills with carbon and other solids and it stops the oil flow eventually. The Turbo now sounds different but still boosts fine. Im not driving at the moment untill I get it repaired. The shaft of the turbo can have a little bit of play in and out (endplay) but no rotational play or very little.Im also after a reputable turbo repairer if anybody can put me onto somebody.MG

I had my turbo checked out by Ford in Perth and they said all is good, even though it sounds "noisy", and it has both end play and rotational play. It boosts up fine and you can hear it winding down for about 20 seconds after turn off.
