Had the whole front end replaced including the passanger's side chassis rail and the thing drove perfectly. It needed both gaurds, bonnet, new lhs chassis rail & complete radiator support, boot, rear bar & rhs 1/4 panel replaced along with a new front screen and repaired on the road it only cost me $17,ooo and had a 6 speed auto aswell.$15,ooo for the damage to your car is b/s, they must be shonky if they can't get that to steer right. Guest Guests Posted 04/12/06 04:10 AM Share Posted 04/12/06 04:10 AM I work for NRMA (IAG).What they will do is get a quote for the repairs and get a quote for how much the salvage is worth (from an auction house). If the cost of a new car - salvage is less than the repair costs, they'll write it off. If they decide not to write it off, you can request to see the quote for the repairs. You can then request a pay out for the repair costs instead of having it repaired. Sometimes this is better than driving a car you know has been in a massive accident.←I understand the first secenario but why would you do the seccond one, why would you want to take $15,ooo-$2o,ooo max ofr a $45,ooo car . Youd be so much better off letting them fix it then selling it'if it really bothered you so much.

So in that situation you're probably better to get payout. But you're right, in your scenario, you're better off having it repaired. It just depends.
