Anything under 10Kph shuold be fought. Your 4K's over could be attributed to level of tread on your tyre and the fact that your speedo goes up in increments of 5's not 1's or 4's. And the worst bit is that they put them on the nice straight bits of twisty-as-all-buggery country roads so as soon as you're in the clear and you let your speed slip a bit you get done.School zones in NSW should have had flashing lights years ago - if it really is about the safety of the kids and not revenue raising. Finally they've done the flashing light bit in some places, but not enough... it should be all school zones. I wouldn't know the difference between a school day and Sunday. And I love that Storey Bridge! Every time I'm in Brisbane I get a bit paranoid that there's a camera on it because it's just too nice and straight. Now I know I'll have to watch out next time I'm there. The flashing signs have been an idea for several years now and the cost of them, being far less than any fixed speed camera, isnt implemented. The GOV has dragged there feet on this as once there installed, all the forgetfull ppl, will now longer get done and fined. The revenue that will be lost will be enourmous. One of the biggest groups getting done by school zone cameras, is infact the elderly who have been driving for 30, 40, 50 years and are simply oblivious to them. They no longer have kids at school and coupled with there long driving history, they simply forget about the times and continue to get done. The school zone cameras are even operating when its a pupil free day, or the children are away from the school, at school sports and carnivals.Im all for road safety, longer disqualification and suspension periods for recidivist traffic offenders, increased fines for unroadworty vehicles, and improvement in road design and pedestrian safety, but I will never support fixed speed cameras that serve no deterrent though copping one in the mail a few weeks later. Its nothing more than fruad.
