Bf Xr6t And F6 Rods

So does anyone know if the BF XR6 Turbo and F6 Typhoon rods are the same or not. Maybe they were different when the BF first came out but now there the same. It might have been a rolling change which would make it hard to tell if your car had them or not. This is a very important topic to me as I have been looking at an XR6 or F6. We need hard evidence or a Ford Tec that knows first hand.

If that is the case, then FPV is doing some "false advertising" calling them "F6 high strength conrods" in the BF2 spec ... that's a serious problem if they are infact exactly the same as the XR units ... I would love to hear what FPV has to say about this.

Well, I think they're happy to run at 330rwkw. Which is around 440kw at the fly, that's pretty high strength I would have thought?

Well I can tell you I have seen my BF rods next to a BA F6 Typhoon's rod and the Typhoon's rods look a lot stronger and bigger then my bf rods.

So unless they are using thinner rods it the BF F6 Typhoon's the rods are NOT the same. This what I have seen first hand not what some guy told me

What month is your BF

yeah dont leave us in limbo.. what month/build month/delivered dates are on it?

my bf was ordered end of june 06 and build plate has july 06 and rego'd end of july.. simon seems to think mine is f6 motor.. but your never sure till it goes bang! he asked me what we are going to tune it to ie..f6 or xr6t rods.. hell I said, f6 mate! well heres hoping :tease:

The most reliabe info would definately come from spare parts as they always have to get the parts right, so if you damaged a rod they would give you the one that your car required based on compliance date. If they say that as of May you can only get one rod for 6T and F6 than that would be right. My guess would be with the Number of LPG falcons getting sold and the few rod failures that warranty would have seen, that it was cheaper to fit the stronger rods to all I6's and hence reduce the number of differences for production. The other thing is that alot of people want to fit LPG later on, so now the engine would be more user friendly. Also BF saw higher compression for emissions so maybe it a safty net here as well. Ford was told by a rod supplier origanally when BA first came out that the F6 rod was the one to use but ford insisted that it was an over kill and went with the ones we know go bang, it seams they are now agreeing that the rod was alittle light duty.

That would not explain why they changed over in May 2006 to the same part number for the BF when the BF was available in 2005. Or is it that they just decided to change it to the same to simplify the matter when ordering for the BF XR6T. :w00t2:
