well that is what confuses me... the BFs run canbus... so they should be able to see everything that happens to do with the electronics etc

BA's are a different kettle...

They both run a CANBUS system, its just that the BF runs EOBD with gives you freeze frame data when DTCs are logged

it wouldnt suprise me if they snuck in full data logging on the sly and only some people at ford know about it. :spoton:

oh im sorry mr smith your car was running 18 psi at 6500 rpm when it blew,,, !GOODBYE!! :roflmbo:

funny you should say this... I have just read the last 12 pages looking for "data logger" as I heard from a technican who work at a central NSW dealership Ford have now got a data logger in the software of the ecm. this data logger records the last 300 hours of vehicle use & abuse. after 300 hours it then overwrites itself for another 300. can anyone confirm any truth to this??

sort of similar subject came up a while ago about cops and insurance companies being able to see what was happening just before an accident, sort of black box thingy.

Now 1 of my customers works for Bosch in the technical side of things and as Bosch are heavily involved in a lot of the electronic systems in these cars I thought I would ask him. His response was no they can't do it. the ecu can be logged in real time, but does not store info that can be read later on.

Airbag computer stores last five seconds before the airbags goes off in just bout everycar. never heard of the ford being able to go back and have a look at the car life. 300 hours is a huge amount.

Im a tech at a dealer and havent heard of this, the only thing we have access to is whats called 'freeze frame data' this is data stored when a DTC (fault code) is logged such as RPM, vehicle speed, fuel trims etc,.... I know that FoMoCo regional service managers have another tool that dealers dont have access to but as far as I know this '300 hour' isnt part of it, from what I know its only checks PCM reflash history... could be other things, but the '300' hours would have to be part of the PCM programming not the diagnostic tool, and im sure if there was such a thing dealers would have access to it as it would aid diagnosis...
