Well I was told by a FPV engineer at last years Sydney motor show that the could not detect it in the BA's, but they could in the BF's.

This is enough for me to not risk it.

Like I said in the initial question, I'm after actual cases where it has been detected, not a, "I was told this, by some bloke who must know cause he once met someone from Ford who told him so."

There is plenty of evidence of Ford personel saying it can be done, but from what I'm seeing, no actaul cases. Is there anyone out there with a BF that has been detected?

I agree that some "factory trained technician" telling you or a dealer service manager saying it is fact, would be taken with a pinch of salt, but this guy was the Transmission engineer for FPV who I was talking to for about 40 mins.

He was very forthcoming pn any info about the new BF's, including the Edit issue and that Ford worked very hard to get some form of detection, as they were seeing a massive increase in warranty claims.

You can ignore it or not, but it was enough to convince me that my $70k car needs a driveline warranty as I am hard enough on stock cars.

It's all been discussed before, and at some length too:

Sorry, it's not the same discussion. The last one was all, "I heard this..", theories about detection.

My questions was, "Has anyone actually been caught, forget the bullsh*t of the rumourmill, I want to hear first hand from someone who has been caught."

The answer is no.

And yes, it is the same discussion (literally since Adam merged the threads ). Though the question was not posed in the opening post of the original thread, out of the rest of the 111, there were MANY questions such as yours.

You play, you pay. Hell, it would be in my interest for Ford NOT to be able to do this if I was a warranty stooge, but I'm not.

For me personally, I'm going to Edit and tune my little heart out within the safe limits of the stock internals etc. If something breaks in the future, I'll take ownership because I can afford to, and am willing to accept it. Lets just say I'm paying very close attention to all those 'quiet engine/quiet forged piston/atomic bottom end' discussions...

why dont we do a simple test...

lets take 10 stock cars from the forum and edit one of them only... we drive all 10 cars to a dealer and ask them to point out the car that's edited :tease:

this should resolve the issue :pinch:

and then we all know the answer

this should make it easy for the dealer as they are only looking for 1 in 10... ImaGgine how many cars they really have warranty claims on.
