They can simply download the current tune and do a comparison with the standard factory tune. This would not be hard to do with a custom scanner. Think about it if anyone can do this they can!Let's face it if we break bits because of mods they can find them and will do so if the problem is repeated. The I have to raise the question ... What's wrong with getting the performance shops to carry out the servicing on a car which has a warranty? Don't these guys love our cars as much as we do ? I hope so ...I think it is best to have the guys who tuned the car look after the car ... Stuff the warranty. If something that is not engine or drivetrain related breaks Ford has to fix the problem under warranty.Short Story: I had a minor leak in the radiator when I went for a trip up near the QLD border. I popped into the local dealer in Kyogle and told him that I had sprung a leak. When the bonnet was popped the Service Manager noticed the mods and got all excited. I told him it ran a 12.2. I took him for a run out the back of town and he came back all excited. The guy was kind enough to take the radiator out of his wifes! XR6T to get me back on the road.True champion ... I guess there are some good dealers out there. My 20 cents worth ...

So you’re all saying that once the F slot is loaded it can’t be overwritten without being sent back to CAPA to be reset?Only joking, calm down ←hehe I actually thought you could overwrite the F slot as many times as you wanted but the flasher was locked to that particular car via some hardware ID/Mac address type thingo... it was only if you wanted to use it on a different car that you needed it to be unlocked???????nice way of the box manufacturers to squeeze some extra $$$ by using this feautre!! Guest FatBAt Guests Posted 04/08/06 08:16 PM Share Posted 04/08/06 08:16 PM What about your power chip Scotty, have they susd that yet....?←Mate I have no doubt that if they wanted to they could find it. Though every tech sales rep and coffe lady that work or have worked for Ford in the last four years know about the edit. It was a Ford tech that said mat if you want more power get an edit.Even though Powerchip, advertise in every Motor mag. I dont rekon to many people would know about them. Before I got my car chipped I aked a Ford tech mate if I do this will it exceed the manufactures safety margins, the answer was mate a mild increase in power the engine will deal with no probs. That has been proved on this forum. Will it void warranty, the answer was yes. But unless your car looks like it has many mods, and it drives like a bat out of hell, most Ford dealerships are not going to waste their time looking for somthing. Add to that they want your work. Not all dealers are like this, and it is a lottery no doubt.Scotty←Hi ScottyThere is no "manufactures safety margins". Ford have an obligation to correct any fault to your car if the fault was not caused by mods.If they black list your car, they are in breach of the Trade Practices Act 1974. "...the answer was mate a mild increase in power the engine will deal with no probs....."It isn't up to Ford and its' employees to determine whether your car is OK or not to warrant. It is fair to say that they are the ones providing the warrantee BUT what they provide (and deny) has to fall under the guidelines of the Trade Practices Act. If you are up front with your dealer and tell them right from the start that you are going to mod your car to say 300kw (right of disclosure) and they just say something to affirm your comment, they have to warrant all defects, even your driveline. That is Implied Warrantee which again forms a part of the Trade Pactices Act.Just because they say no and blacklist a car does not forfeit their legal obligations to the consumer. If they do they are in breach of TRADE PRACTICES ACT 1974 SECT 75AZC - Misleading or deceptive conduct. They cannot blanket cover and completely wipe their hands of cars just cause they are modded.Cheers

If it is a mass consumer problem, they take it into their own hands.Cheers

They play the game and usually get away with it.
