Guest Guests Posted 03/11/06 07:02 AM Share Posted 03/11/06 07:02 AM I haven't read the rest of the thread so don't shoot me down if I repeat anything. If you're upright and breathing and able to pass a piss test then you should be able to secure employment somewhere in WA mining. I'm thinking Kalgoorlie would be a good place to look initially. I've just left there earlier this year and know it's pretty well alive with work (Gold, Nickel & Copper)Most mines work a 2 week on / 1 week off roster but locally you might find something that is an even time 4 day on/4 day off roster. All will require working weekends, public holidays, nights.....etc. You'll work hard and work with heavy machinery, chemicals, hard men & women but because of these factors you should make your $1200 pw easily. Kalgoorlie is also a great place to live and is choc full of HSV's & XR's. Great shopping, good restaurants and the cook should be happy with that lot as well.My recommendations would be1.Do some research first as rents may be significantly higher than you're used to - I dunno. I just sold a rental property there, lovely 3 x1 with shed and entertainment area. I was getting $340 per week for that. 2. If interested then register with employment agencies (Hays, Extraman, Adecco, Ready etc). You'll probably have to start through them since you've no experience but "ya have to crawl before you can walk". If you're any good the big boys will possibly offer you a position. Either way the experience gained will allow you to look elsewhere3. Do some research as the work may not be what you think it is. I was a Supervisor for a large company there and in the Pilbara and can tell you first hand that many blokes couldn't or can't handle it.Hope this helps and good luck with your quest

After you've proved that you're a good employee & have experience, will you have a case for $1200 or above!Even qualified Plant Operators have trouble getting into the mines, let alone an inexperienced retail manager! Surely some kind-hearted sole is willing to give him a few grand a week with free accommodation and meals for unskilled labour. And fancy expecting anyone to work 7 days a week Not really getting your point at all. Have some compassion Brunksy
