In the time that I have visited this forum I have found most of your comments/ problems/ advice invaluable. My car hasn't had a fraction of the drama other people have had but it has given me the knowledge to check for obvious things and avoid some of the problems before they arise, thanks guys.

I wonder if you could help me again.

I would like to upgrade from my 2004 BA XR6T to a current model but have heard a few comments made about brakes, build quality etc that might not make it such an appealing choice from an upgrade perspective. I have an auto and would love to upgrade to the ZF box version. I have started a poll to help me and would like anyone willing to list any issues they may have had todate with their BF autos.

I know its another poll, but it might help others as well.

You did not put Other and No problems

My car had to have the windscreen replaced as it had dust between the glass layers, other than that it is 100x better than my BA.

hhhh

misread the poll.... can you add in "I dont have a BF but want to see the results anyway"

that way you dont get inaccurate data by BA owners choosing a curren t option :sleepystuff:

Could you add a catagory for multiple problems?

Mine are:

1. Paint peeling front bumper - gets resprayed next week

2. annoying undercar rattle - was the handbrake and fixed last week

3. rear tail light lens scratches - on the inside reflective material

4. BRAKE Shudder - which Ford denies on the BF's

5. Stuffed muffler - internal components broke up

Mechanically fine since day one. Just general build quality issues.

Mine's only on 2,900ks, no probs yet. I've had a few falcons and the build quality is about what I expect, but of course could be better.

There seems to be some people having issues with fuel economy and mine is OK and seems to be improving, but it really depends on how and where its driven. Any car with this much power, 4, 6, or 8 uses heaps of fuel when putting the boot in (more power means more fuel). But for general driving they seem to be pretty poor in traffic or short runs. On long runs they are top rate and better than quite a few 4s here.

I've been tempted to get an edit, but a little wary with all this talk of Ford being able to detect it. I'm sceptical they can because unless they can catch you in the act, any legal argument will be their accusation against my denial. With Ford's poor quality control and servicing track record, where's the proof that the ECU didn't already have a message on it, or it was left by one of their service monkeys, etc. Of course Ford will say they can tell, to get us all doubting, but has anyone actually been caught? An I mean a stock car, reflashed to stock (not with old tunes etc), driven by a respectable looking person, just in for a service.
