Posted 01/11/06 06:53 PM Share Posted 01/11/06 06:53 PM I know it's probaly hard to diagnose without looking at the failed parts first hand, but can anyone put their finger on any one common cause as to why the Turbo motor fails when it does? Or has each failure been due to differering reasons? Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/29852-causes-of-motor-failures/ Share on other sites

There's more than one cause but, I would think that having exesive combustion pressures would be the leading cause. That would be followed by(or combined with) having an engine detonotating at high revs would do it sure. Lack of water No.2 top end damageLack of fuel/air - mainly lean out and cook the motor like No.2 Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/29852-causes-of-motor-failures/#findComment-458210 Share on other sites

Mildman Member 149 Member For: 19y 5m 24d Posted 03/11/06 01:55 PM Share Posted 03/11/06 01:55 PM (edited) Oh yeah forgot incorrect timing - over revving could be seen as lack of oil...sometimes - or change down to wrong gear I guess. People who don't know what detonation sounds like will kill an engine in quick time.
