I know it's probaly hard to diagnose without looking at the failed parts first hand, but can anyone put their finger on any one common cause as to why the Turbo motor fails when it does?

Or has each failure been due to differering reasons?

Too much oomf! :spoton:

There's more than one cause but, I would think that having exesive combustion pressures would be the leading cause.

That would be followed by(or combined with) having an engine detonotating at high revs would do it sure.

Lack of oil, lack of water, lack of air, lack of fuel.

That would probably cover most scenarios.

I'd say lack of oil would be No.1 that's when you do bottom end damage. Lack of water No.2 top end damage

Lack of fuel/air - mainly lean out and cook the motor like No.2

Seriously, I think that's 80% of it.

Owners putting in 91 ron in a 98 ron tune, and not knowing how much damage that does. :pinch:

People who don't know what detonation sounds like will kill an engine in quick time.

Yeah even with the stock knock sensor set at 60, detonation will still occour... throw in a dodgy edit tune, some crap fuel , a scorching hot day and a stock intercooler and those poor rods are getting shoved back down befor the've reached TDC... bend, bend, snap!
