There is a tube of stuff you can get that you put on the pads to prevent the squeal. Cant recall the name but its widely available.

I just picked up today a set of the ferodo pads DS2500 for the rear and the fronts have always squealed a little.

Already tried DBQ and another brand my old man got from his workshop and neither make any difference.... Also smoothed the outer lip of the pad off and that did squat too. I have tried doing a series of hard stops and holding my foot on the brake for a while and nothing makes a difference. Still squeals like a bitch.

The only that stops it is shoving the hose in there and that only lasts about a day. That's why I'm hoping new pads might sort it for a while...

I had my DBA 4000 glowing a few nights back using the ferodo formula pads and the brakes were still perfect. Was it the pads or the rotors or both doing there job?

In short discs pump away or otherwise act to dissipate heat and thus reduce peak temperature, and try to keep their shape whilst doing it.

Pads do their best to generate that heat in the first instance.

I imagine a system glowing red will be operating somewhere around 500C surface temperature.

You need both components to be of high quality and to be matched to each other for the system to operate at a maxima.

The design if the disc and the mass of the rotor are responsible for pumping and or absorbing the heat. The more efficient the system the lower the peak temperature reached.

The design of the rotor and quality of materials used is responsible for controlling thermal expansion effects; such as preventing waves and or coning of the disc. Similarly the disc design and materials used seek to prevent the migration of excessive heat into sensitive areas such as hubs.

The dba4000’s use a pillar vented design and high grade materials in order to realize the above. The dba5000’s go one step further by using a two piece configuration to help prevent coning and heat migration.

The pad design seeks to create the highest possible friction coefficient in all conditions whilst hot and cold and to do so constantly for all disc speeds and pad temperatures encountered.

The higher the Fc the easier you will be able to lock your wheels and or threshold brake at higher speeds and weight transfers for any given design of rotor and caliper and tyre.

maybe time to get your roters machined... :spoton:

My pads (factory brembos on the rspec) and they tend to make a bit of noise when there is a lot of break dust floating around...

just give them a squart with the hose like u have said and its gone for a week or so...

Ferodo DS2500s if you can get them. Squeal a little on light application but a serious pad.

Not for the street though as they are very harsh on rotors. More suited are the DS2000 not DS2500. I am actually using the DS2000.

I was told by many forum members to try the EBC Greenstuff pads..

after 6 months of using these I must say, they are the dustiest most pathetic braking pad ive ever used.. for a street/track pad they dont offer very good non-fade!!!

steer clear.

We actually agree on something... They are rubbish... Also good for chewing up your rotors...
