in the words of Napoleon Dynamite "GOD " What would you do in a situation like this!"

I would purchase a new BF Bottom end that has F6 rods in it stock for 2500.00 and fit it and be in your way.

That looks nasty

is that how much the BF bottom end is?? sweet, that's not so bad.. I might stop stressing now

mate you can purchase an F6 short motor for 2500, Gaskets 200 R & R shouldnt be more then 800 :owned:

Very interesting. A mate of mine rang Ford in September and was told there is only one bottom end replacement available, part number -BA 6009C

This is the number for replacement bottom end on a BA, and there was no other listing for the BF at this stage. I wonder what components would be in that then?

Interestingly enought, FPV were using the same part number for the Phoon short motor? Does this sound right? The XR6T bottom end and the Phoon Bottom end were both the exact same price, so im presuming that BA 6009C would have the stronger rods, right??

Doesnt quite make sence that Ford would build 2 different replacement bottom ends, one for the 6T and another for the Typhoon?

That sucks. I still can't understand why there are 300+ rwkw going strong on the standard rods for years, yet they can let go at a relatively low power level? Makes me almost want to rebuild mine now

could of had some bad fuel and detonation caused it to go!

Bugger.

Sorry to hear.

I hope all goes well.

I know Nizpro do a very tough engine and if you going to spend some hard earned folding you might as well get the best.

Cheers and chin up.

Yep, detonation and a life of high revs... these motors are old tech, they dont like to rev, throw in some poor quality fuel, or a clogged fuel filter or whatever and you get detonation.

I always laugh at the guys that say " it never detonated, I never heard any noise" blah blah blah... the majority of turbo motors with these dodgy generic tunes are on the edge of detonation, alot are detonating but it can't be heard due to the noise of the road, stereo, exhaust... why else would serious tuners use headphones to monitor detonation??

Why are guys running around with 300plus wkws on stock motors without any dramas? TUNING, good fuel, low intake air temps ( big intercoolers, the stock one is asking for trouble ) and...

hey all, I had a great weekend and after pampering my beast with its ritual weekend wash it rewarded me with this!

that's a hole in the block, just under the turbo.

and that's a crack in the sump, I havent dug any deeper than that and I dont think im willing to.

just wondering where to from here?

who to see what to do?

im in 2 minds at the moment

1. fix it up quick trade it in

2. build a crazy motor with at least 400rwkw. and ~1200nm torque

dunno as much as I love the car I just dont think it loves me.. or my wallet

Option 2.

Great car and the pain of the engine cost will fade the first time you drive it with 300+RWKW. :crybaby:

Guaranteed.

Is it just my eyes (or the picture) or does the block appear to have been cracked for a while?... :crybaby: (the greying on the edges of the crack "appears" to be tow different shades)

the car had been custom tuned, this didnt happen on a generic tune.

and it as running ~12psi boost, it wasnt hot because I had it parked for ~35-40minutes before taking off and this happened in the morning when it was pretty chilly.

I wont go warranty, dont think they will honour it and I beleive in you play you pay, not you play at other ppls expense.

can anyone recomend a good engine builder/tuner in the sydney area?

Does the BF XR6T have the same bottom end as the Phoon ?
