tur Flight 6 Member 471 Member For: 21y 9m 29d Posted 28/10/06 08:12 AM Author Share Posted 28/10/06 08:12 AM So if I was to put 18in typhoon rims on the Xr6 turbo it wouldn't effect the DSC as ford have an 18inch option?? Lifetime Members 7,935 Member For: 21y 3m 19d Gender: Male Location: Sydney Posted 28/10/06 08:21 AM Share Posted 28/10/06 08:21 AM I would think that in the event of an accident, you could be in trouble if you go with 19"s.I was going to put my 18"s on the wifes Kluger, but this has DSC (DAT) and would cause a problem. I checked with Toyota and they said it would throw the system out.As for putting 18"s on the T, if Ford use the WDS to put the 18" option, it should be fine.I am no expert in this, but I wonder why FPV/Ford cannot put DSC on my F6 as I only have the 18"s as well.I might need to speak to FPV about this possibility. Mildman Member 149 Member For: 19y 6m 22d Posted 28/10/06 10:04 AM Share Posted 28/10/06 10:04 AM If you change wheels there is no need to recalibrate the DSC system (assume the rolling diameter is pretty much the same). If you stiffen the suspension it will effect the DSC calibration a bit.If you change the braking system (bigger calipers) it will screw it up a lot.Works on wheel speed sensors - so as long as those 19's have low profile tyres (35 or so profile) you'll be fine Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/29693-can-i-put-19ins-on-a-bf-turbo/#findComment-455937 Share on other sites

FORDTECH Member 383 Member For: 22y 3d Location: On the edge Posted 28/10/06 10:39 AM Share Posted 28/10/06 10:39 AM The DSC system on the vehicles is calibrated to suit the wheel size on each individual one.You can change them and it will effect them but you probably wouldn't notice. If you are driving your vehicle to the point where the system has to intervene to control your vehicle then there are alot of other things that would be taking place that would be drawing your attention(avoiding what you are/were about to hit). The system is mainly calibrated around the vehicles centre of gravity utilizing a Yaw rate sensor. If you change the wheels to a larger diameter rim size then you are probably also changing the profile of the tyre. Therefore there is effectively less flex in the sidewall movement of the tryes therefore effecting the calibration of the DSC.The same applies to lowering the vehicle from standard height.Hope this makes sense.
