Typhoon Cai

I been looking at adding a CAI to my car ever since I purchased it but the cost of the basic SS inductions one (on ebay for $300) I found it really hard to justify. I mean come on $300 for some molded plastic! you gotta be kidding me.

Anyway I found on this site a cheap alternative. That is to upgrade my snorkel to the same found on the Turbo and cut a hole in my air box and fit the lower snorkel as found on the Typhoon and V8 models. At the same time I figured with all this extra air the stock air filter has to go also so heres what I grabbed.

K&N filter = $96.40

Top Snorkel BA9A624A = $31.50

Lower Snorkel BAF9C676B = $58.20

Thanks to my mate who works for spare parts at a Honda dealership for sorting the parts out for me.

Aparently you can get the parts at Coventrys if you have trouble with specific dealerships (ive read some people have been asked for VIN numbers to proove they own a FPV).

I havnt fitted the lower snorkel yet but hope to do that in a few weeks. Heres a photo of the difference between the stock XR6 N/A snorkel (on the right) and the one that comes standard on the Turbo models. (I dont know why it looks all cut up around the mouth. that's how it came.)

I installed a Typhoon Second CAI onto my N/A XR6. I dont know how much it has improved it but when you open her up , you can surely here her sucking loudly through it. Took all of 1/2 hr to install also. Still gotta get around to getting the turbo snorkel and install that.

Fitted the Typhoon Second CAI yesterday but didnt get around to taking the car out for a drive till today.

Cant say I really noticed much difference in power but I'm not disapointed as from everything that I have read this mod helps out with fuel economy and opens the door for more power from other mods down the track.
