Don't kid yourself guys...Go and drive an evo or STi and then talk...

I think you may have missed my post wrx365, I had one..................

I still agree the T is best bang for buck, the wrx STI was twice as much to insure for me, and it's costs more to get the sort of power gains that you would get from the T.

It really comes down to the individuals requirements, I needed a bigger roomier car than the STI and something that did not ride as harsh on the roads, hence I picked the T.

I am not knocking it, as I said previously I would have another one tommorrow.

I don't want to start a  fight these are just my opinions only.

Actually I was responding to xr6likness.

BTW I agree with your comments and Don't get me wrong the T is a great car but I don't think its the best all rounder...since this is a post about the phoon this will be the last time I mention a wrx...unless provoked...

Back on the phoon...To me it had the potential to be a Sti killer...damn shame..

Hi wrx365.

Mate as I explained in an earlier post, I think I just got one of those cars. It has lost power in the lower revs and is of course a different cat than an XT what I meant by that statement is that my particular Typhoon does no more for me enjoyment wise than what an XT sedan would, this one has been a generally negative buying experience for me. To the uninitiated the Typhoon may be a great car, but mine is still plauged by all the usual QC probs that should have been weeded out 2 years ago and I didn't even mention the rumbling rattle in the Tremec 6 speed that other owners are talking about   and I'll bet you a million dollars against a pound of goat sh!t that FPV will have the standard "They all do that" answer whenever they recieve a complaint about the box. Just not good enough and I know they can be edited Unichipped and/or reflashed to give the performance they should have. But compared to the GT my question is WHY BOTHER?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

So your phoon WAS faster than your 330kw GT but now its suddenly lost so much power than its no better than an XT?

You make no sense and have zero credibility. Engines dont lose massive power like that unless they have SERIOUS problems. Should get it checked out mate :ermm:

In terms of performance and drivability id say the T is a Sti killer. To get the performance out of them you have to launch hard, rev them hard and generally thrash them and even then they are barely faster than a stock T, slight advantage from a standing start but probably weaker in terms of pure acceleration.

Tweak the T a little and its no contest.

One thing that appeals to me is the novelty of a large family sedan being able to perform so hard as opposed to a sporty little buzz box.

mmm the phoon is a real dissapointment...Doc...

I feel the same even about my stock T. I love it to bits, but I want a proper sports car, something based on a race inspired chassis etc. I reckon you shold go Euro, Jap Doc, drive an NSX, I did, and that's going to be my next car, truly a fantastic car and one of the best drivers cars out there.

All the tests and cooments from people who won both cars say the WRX has it slightly over the XR6T. However I have driven both cars I would call them even. It depends on what you want.

However, there is now way the T is in the same league as an STI. The thing about tweaking is what you can do to one you can do to the other.

Like you, a high performance orientated family sized sedan appeals to me, so I was really hoping the Phoon would be an STI killer.

Hey guys,

There has been a typhoon sitting at city ford melbourne for 2 months now I think no one want it apparently the guy changed his mind after the clutch issue and its just been sitting there, people have been test driving it its got 2000km on it now. I think all the media attention to the clutch has hurt the sales of the phoon. I was talking to the dealer he said ohhh he will pick it up this was 2 months ago, and I rang him about 3 weeks ago about it and they said ohh he picked it up, so I went past today to checked nope the typhoon is still there and the km are ticking over.

When I was looking for my T a couple of weeks ago, I went into City Ford and noticed the Typhoon you were talking about - its the Shockwave one isn't it? - one of dealers (a young dude who was pretty honest) told me that the clutch was ratsh*t and he hates taking out potential buyers in it - gee I wonder why???
