Surprised us totally how well the R8 pulled up, it really is something that you have to try when you get the chance, (don’t do it with an F6 behind you though, had to change lanes real quick..) First time we did a full on brake test in the R8 from 100km/hr we had to redo it cause we figured we must have been going slower then we thought cause it stopped so quickly. I can say without doubt that the R8 is no quicker than the F6 with average Joes driving within normal driving conditions for this type of car. (I.e fast accelerations to 100-130km/hr, overtaking and getting thru corners at around 100-130km/hr), even given the fact the R8 was new, it would have to improve a lot to be noticeably faster, in fact both of us agreed the F6 is by far the more exciting car in terms of acceleration, you keep waiting for the rush in the R8, it just doesn’t happen, don’t get me wrong its bloody fast, but get back in the F6 and its all smiles as you get spat down the road on that torque surge. When the journos test privately owned, well maintained cars with similar kms, THEN I'll believe a word they write. That $1bn has to have gone somewhere, and I HIGHLY doubt it all went into the cars... If did make the XR seem a bit old school.I came up against a VE GTS the other night (while in shopping cart tune) and the poor bugger had no idea what hit him. He guessed that a white XR6 with no Turbo badges and standard 17" wheel was going to be an easy win! I guess he had some excuse to tell his mate in the passenger seat... The 0-100 times were (from memory) 7.5 for the BF (4 speed auto) and about 1 sec slower for the VE. They didn't say much about this in their review...Just a thought - how much would you have to spend on a Merc or a Beemer to get the same performance as an XT? If I want a car that looks like a fricking magna/camry I just buy one, trust Expensive Daewoo to try and pass of this 'car' to the public as an innovation. This really makes my blood boil. I'll tell you where the billion bucks went.......to other car company's for payment for there design ideas....The AU looked like shyte, but origional looking shyte....
