What is the recommended max rpm these engines like to rev to before they start to run into trouble? It already has a good set of valve springs, custom exhaust manifold, larger turbo, external wastgate, flash tuner, injectors, fuel pump, custom intercooler, 3.5” dump pipe and twin 3” exhausts..Cheers,The Juggernaut. You'd be asking for trouble IMHO. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/29504-max-rpm/#findComment-452823 Share on other sites

"skies the limit" is certainly not true. With most aftermarket rods I'd advise say no more than 6500 revs (as a guide), compared with stock rev limit of 5800 revs. In R&D, using a 7500 rev limit, I've bent 4 after market rods, and then progressed to another level of rod strength. The bore/stroke ratio puts excessive stress on the rods at high revs, and it's why the Ford T motor has a relatively low stock rev limit.
