I have beeen young and stupid, I have also long held the belief that young people cannot drive Blah Blah.

Though in recent months all the complet and utter f*cktards on the roads have been middle aged men. Not the P plater or chick in the Hyudai excel with Bad Girls stickers, But Guys in the 40,s in Magnas, Commodores and Falcons.

Well it seems that traffic laws are doing us a favour in this instance.  You're the reason that the stereotype exists.

Would someone aged 50 react the same in similar circumstances?

Your right, but it has nothing to do with the fact I was driving a modded/performance car. If I was in an excell I still would have made the same dumb decision.

If I had pulled up I would have lost 3 point's, now I am looking at a possible holiday and 5 year's without driving.

You’ve just proven the point that you’re arguing against - had you have been in a less powerful vehicle you would have pulled up there ending the pursuit before it even started along with the ensuing dangers posed to every other innocent road user at the time.

I am not that far over the "danger age" of 25, but the sheer ignorance by most in that age group (as displayed in this thread) makes it all justified don’t you think?

Yes it stinks that government bodies are restricting our freedom of choice - but is it any wonder!

I am 19 my current T has more then $15000 under the bonnet including full race block and cams...

C and V are aiming for over 400klw before christmas...

it is my daily driver and the 3rd T I have owned.

so as you would think this topic hurts my ears every time it comes up.

and I agree with most things said here, but you also have to understand that I have half a brain.

I build cars because they are my life. so I am not going to let a car take my life.

I am not going to sit around at maccas doing burnouts in front of my mates.

these cars are getting very cheap and you will see younger drivers getting in them. the problem is that some young drivers that are comming out of front wheel drive cars with low power are at more risk then someone that is at the track almost every week with an more then 10 driving school days including high speed driving.

I know I will get flamed for this but I consider myself a SAFER driver then alot of people I have seen on the road in high powered cars, including xr6 turbo drivers on cruises.

just because I am a young driver people think I am a danger to myself and others on the road.

I am a danger but no more then anyone else here.

I would rather have a p plate xr6t or a new ss Late model camira behind me on the highway then a 1985 corolla with no brakes because they are more likely to be able to pull up if something happens.

Unfortunately your type is a rarity. I considered myself to be in the same boat, but unfortunately there are so many f*ckwits out there that don’t have the half a brain you speak of that ruin it for everyone.

Tis a real shame but that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

Re read what I wrote.

Sorry - I did misread that and assumed there was a moment of sanity amongst all the dribble.

My bad, I sincerely apologise.

That well maybe true , but it is the very people you describe above that in coming years will be driving modded Ts and hence my concerns. Not just now but the future driver demographic of these cars. Yes there are SOME very good drivers out there.... we can agree on that.

But it is some of the idiot fringe that get into these cars in the next few years that cause most of us worry. Think the VLs were a worry..... you ain't seen nothing yet

Court & barrister's cost's, both my car's. If I can't move closer to work shortly my job, costing a fortune catching a taxi to and from work atm esp at 5am 2 days a week.

And most of all my lifestyle, I can no longer jump in the car and go out when ever I feel like it or go to the shops when I feel like it. Everything has to be planned, I normally was only ever was home to sleep but now im only ever at work or at home.

As for lucky to be alive well although I know how stupid what I did was I never pushed the car or myself beyond the limit's, I know what the car is capable of and I know what my driving skills are and would never endanger myself to push beyond them.

hooning all comes down to maturity I reakon. yes there maybe some younger drivers on here, myself included, however that doesn't directly imply that we're all crap ass drivers. the T is not your stereotypical hooning car, and most if not all of the drivers on here are not stereotypical hooners, otherwise they would have bought a different car. I think im the youngest guy on this entire site (18y.o) however I don't thrash the living daylights out of my car evertime I get in it. sure I enjoy the occasional squirt, but I don't see the point in chucking burnouts etc etc just to be fully sic.

as long as we're still discussing these issues, then I guess we ain't that bad, as opposed to all the topics reading "fully sic! I just munched a Expensive Daewoo doing 140 in a 60 zone!" (on other forums of course)
