this may be a bit off topic but I have never try'ed to flick my car out sideways/drop a burn out for 2 reasons 1 im not putting my self and car at risk of crashing for a couple of seconds of joy, 2 im not 100 % confident of my abality's.

But with the look and power of my car every one just thinks im a hoon and also I have never in any car been over 130 some may call me week but its the truth, same reasons as above there is no need to.

I would how ever like to seek the thrill off going top speed's but ill save that for the track, and the qrt mile when I get around to it.

Maybe he meant 388fwkw, that sounds better, OR maybe he didnt wana lift the hood coz you would see a big empty space to the lower left of the engine. that's would be funny coz he had a IC.

P platers in vic cant legally drive an XR6Turbo, because I wanted mine but had to wait untill I got off them.

in nsw most poeple on there greens can drive turbos, because they got there red p's before the 11/07/2005 when the changes came in

The problem with advanced driver courses and the like.

1. They raise a perception of ability. If not done continuousely then they small amount of skill gained is very quickly eroded, but the confidence and belief in ones own ability still remains.

2. Most things go out the window when a massive shot of adrelian kicks in. It can work for you and it can work against you. I Have done things on adrenlian that is incredible, and at other times adrelian has rendered me useless.

3. Whilst it is not a recommended activity, think about this, who has been pissed, done an activity that they should not have, and done it well, due to the relaxtion effect of alchohol.

As a general rule age = experience, it is what you take from those experiences that counts. Though some live and experience bugger all.

My Brother-in-law (about 15 years older than me) was very much into MotorKhana and he thought that the constant, practical experience like that was the best driver training he had. It taught him control and also made him WANT to improve his skills and actively do so.

It's why he's keeping his old Mini so that his son's can learn similar things in a safe environment (our farm)...well, I think that's what he tells me sister anyway

Yeah, I think he was competeing (local stuff only) every other week and getting his hands dirty understanding the innards of a thing the other. Which IMHO is just as important to understand what and how a car does what it does. (me, I still, cant for the life of me...understand how a diff works )

The good thing about annual roadworthies in NSW is you see less cars with dangerous levels of structual rust about now (though phoneworthys will always happen).

Medical's...let's just leave them to the forces

Don't forget, not all P platers are under 21. There are a few late starters or those new to the country just getting their licences too.

You're right, age doesn't really matter, but driving experience and skills do.

Passing a road rule test is just not good enough, neither is a 3 year P plate period, it just alows people to continue doing things incorrectly.

If driver courses increase cockyness, it certainly isn't the majority and in countrys where advanced driving has been introduced, a dramatic drop in driver fatalities has occured.

Car control and driving awarness skills simply must be tought and new drivers need to be restricted in what they can drive (I know low powered cars go fast too, but it's the speed at which they accelerate and go pearshaped that is the real issue). I'd take it even further and introduce driver training levels where any and all drivers must pass that level in order to drive cars in a certain power range (similar to truck licences).

In all real studies into road accidents, sppeding is not the main factor, a lack of car control and driver ability to adapt to varying conditions is. Also a lack of confidence is just as bad.

DRIVING IS A PRIVELIDGE and CARS CAN BE DANGEROUS
