Hey, 1st post here... Im considering a XR6T (Mark I BA) with 40-60k on the clock (most probably the auto, but like the manual as well).

Now part from brake shudder, power windows slow are there any other issues that I should worry about with this model? Ive googled and came up with these

I dont think I can fit a Mark II into my budget, but issues with that model as well appreciated?

Ill be leaving it stock for the time being, but will be opening her up every now and then and dont wanna come across something that will cost me a fortune that I shoulda been aware of.

Thanks

Firthy

Welcome to the nuthouse mate.

Plenty of people have come on and asked exactly what you have now. Handbrake, a bit of driveline shunt and a few niggles are common to MK 1's.

I dont believe there will be anything serious that will cost you a fortune to fix.

I'll get in early and say autos are quicker if you plan to mod.

Good luck.

Mate if it is the MK 1 you end up getting then get the auto. If you can squeeze in a Mk11 then the manual is well worth considering.

Probably not a bad idea to let us know what price you are looking to pay, you never knoiw there may be a perfect car on here for you.

:stupid:

Don't touch the 5 speed manual, if the budget can't stretch for the mkII six speed manual then stick with the auto :spoton:

The only other common issue is diff whine - but if you have a Mrs then it's not really that bad in comparison!

Oh and

if you don't plan to mod the car, the T5 5 speed manual should be fine  :crybaby:  I've got 300rwkw and its still going fine.

Me too. Ive got a 5ver and its great. Not so standard either.

Brake shudder was pretty much eliminated with any model built in Oct 03 or later. I cant recall the change that was made but I can certainly advise that my Nov 03 has never had any brake shudder.

Sorry to disagree, but I had a 11/03 build XR8 from new & it was a bastard on brake shudder. I got rid of it at 13,000 k's & didn't worry about chaseing the problem. The BF I have now is terrific, but that's probably because they have the Premium Brakes.

Im buying from a yard so I can trade in my current car, otherwise I would buy private. Hard to sell my car in todays fuel prices (95 V8). But anyway Im looking around mid-low 20k's
