Ford_Power Member 798 Member For: 21y 7m 11d Posted 20/10/06 03:19 AM Share Posted 20/10/06 03:19 AM (edited) It is actually used to reset the VCT phasers and also to clear a flooded engine.If there is some dirt or obstruction in the oil feed to the cam phasers, the cam(s) can be put out of relative position and as a result the engine can flood.Holding the accelerator to the floor and cranking does two things, 1) The PCM attempts to reset the cams back to a base or known position; and2) It also clears out any excess fuel in the combustion chamber.EDIT** I just saw Eugene actually wrote something similar - oops Edited 20/10/06 03:20 AM by Ford_Power Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
