Cranking Motor Without Ignition

you are correct, it will not start, but if you keep doing it you may root your battery and starter motor.

I do it after I have changed my engine oil and the filter isnt quite full, (I top it up a little before I install)

If, and I dont see how an efi car with all things being right, will ever flood, the worst it would do is cough, it wont start and run, if you pour a half a cup of fuel down the throat of a carby engine then crank, it will kick, for a second or two, then die, it wont run.

I supose if there was ALOT of fuel sitting in each port from say dead plugs or ECU fuse or whatever, just speculating, it may fir once spark is given, but not for long.

the upside of doing the hold it flat and crank trick is it will "rester" you cam phasers, has to be cranked for 10 seconds, but apparantly they can get out of whack, this fixes it.
