of course... better terminal speed definately is better mph

Thanks for that. I was trying to work out my rear wheel kw.

At the moment I am doing a 2.400 60' and 114mph (without stalling it up) so I

would expect a little bit more mph at the other end if I was to stall it up.

I've actually found that if I screw up the launch and get a bad 60' that I can get a higher mph.

Geea.

Geea is correct.

I think it works that the wheels have more time ( and travel more distance ) to generate speed with a spin, and bad 60.

I ran consistant 117mph with 2.1 60', and with my 11.8 run, went a 1.80 60' and dropped to 115mph.

Having said that, every 1/10th you drop from your 60' equates to around 2/10 drop in ET at the end.

It's a strange thing, yes.

Lower your 60' times and you'll generally lower your trap speed assuming you get a "good" run. That is what I've found. But sometimes there seems no correlation at all when you compare timesheets - see example below.

It is a hard thing to understand and I'm only very new to this drag racing scene so am having trouble coming to terms with it.

I won't bore you with figures from all the runs I've done but just an example from a couple of weeks ago.

Run 1 -

60' ... 2.156; ET ... 13.791; Speed ... 105.17 (169.25km/h)

Run 2 -

60' ... 2.130; ET ... 13.712; Speed ... 100.01

Run 3 -

60' ... 2.281; ET ... 13.924; Speed ... 101.90

So if you can find a "rule" from that please tell me ...

PS. Using my G-tech I consistently get 13.8s at 168 to 170 km/h. Even if I get too much wheelspin I get very low 14s but the speed is always the same. I seem to recall someone saying that the trap speed they give you at the drags is just an "estimate" of your speed over the last XXX distance ??? If this is the case then it would explain why my trap speed varies at the track but not on the street with the G-Tech.

PPS. I use the term "on the street" advisedly - it is to indicate that it is on standard bitumen surface as you would find on any street near you. The "street" I use is of course a private driveway - albeit quite a long one

Heatsoak.

As my general rule of thumb goes, you first run will be the quickest, and have the best terminal speed. I have gone against this once, when I was learning how to drive the ute at the strip, bad launches and wheelspin aside of course.. .

And yes, trap speed is the average speed between 2 light beams at the end of the track, so keep on the gas for a sec or 2 after the line..

Thanks mate - the first run I did I certainly kept it ON after the line so that may explain it.

However in my case heatsoak was not a problem - over an hour between each run on that particular evening. Second run was quickest (but slowest). Third run I just launched with too many revs and sat at the line spinning for what seemed like ages.

from my experience I can range from 11.5 (not stalling it up) to 11.1 and I always run the same MPH withing 1/2 mph, but I let my car cool down to a very simular temp everytime, I have ran a run straight after another and I did lose 1-2mph.
