1. First car was 1968 XT Falcon 500 Ute. Fully restored it (re-built 221 cubic inch 6, new rubbers, tarp etc, re-spray in blueprint, XT-221 plates :D) etc. Still own in but rarely drive it. Got it at 17, now 23

2. 2nd car got it about 6 months after I got the ute. 1983 Ford Laser, 3spd auto, 1.5l single carb lol. This was my run around for 4.5 years during school and uni to keep my ute in good condition. Now sits at my grandparents farm collecting spiders.

3. Current car BF XRT, bought it soon after starting a job after graduating uni (Mechanical Engineer)

Hell I didnt realise I was this old. Anyway...oldest to most recent.

1. 1968 MK1 Escort 2 door. 1300cc with drums brakes all round.

2. 1981 MK5 Cortina. 2000cc

3. LC GTR Torana. Straight swapped for the Cortina...Torana had run a rear wheel bearing.

4. LH SLR/5000 Torana. What was I thinking...the 6 pot slaughtered it.

5. 1986 GS Barina.

6. HZ Ute with factory 5l V8

7. 1982ish R30 Skyline 6cyl turbo.

8. XC GS Sedan. 351 Manual.

9. 1987 VL Calais V8.

10. 1994 TX5XRi Telstar (bought new)

11. 1995 300ZX TT Manual.

12. 1997 GTR Skyline (R33 Series 3)

13. EB Falcon ex taxi with bench seat. (Post divorce)

14. 1994 Primera.

15. The purple beast. Original choices were BA XR6T + bike for summer or BF2 XR6T. As it has turned out the money put aside for the bike is going toward making the car into a fairly rock solid package.

Looking back over all that there is absolutely no question that the car I had most fun with was........

The trusty old Mk1 Escort. Did umpteen track days (on crossply tyres), drove it mercilessly and even revved it so hard that it popped a valve seat out of the head. Given that I paid a mere NZ$500 for it in 1985 and spent nothing more than the cost of tyres, a second hand head and a gasket set I am in awe of it. If I had had the wisdom to keep it it would be worth a reasonable amount today.

The worst. Hands down goes to the VL Calais. bought when it was only 4 yrs old. Switchgear was crud and worked intermittently. The boat anchor under the bonnet must have been put there as a practical joke. Handling was worse than any other car I have owned and quite frankly I cant think of a single good thing to say about the poxy thing.

Cool memories anyway

Mines no where near as glamereous as some here but its ends with a big bang.

Hyundai Excel (biggest wing & sound system) shame

Nissan Urvan (cleaned up nice) camped & partied everywhere & anywhere

Mitsubishi 2 x 4 Triton (it didnt know it when I got it but it loved spontaneous rallies) Was a rolling constant repair job.

Ford ba xt ute. (nothing special but started something I cant control anymore. extractor & exhaust) Nice sound system & was nice & high for towing boats & puttin bike in the back & big enough to put my 70kg lack of frame to sleep in.

Ford BFMKII XR6T (Has been more than a hobby for me boardering on a lifestlye/obsession. Now sits with an empty bonnet & undercarraige waiting the new atomic 998kw eng & a built zf6spd. Has all the other good gear in there already aps phase 3, plazmaman plenum, p/w surge tank & custom 3 1/2 exhaust. Will be featured soon in street fords mag. What big turbo awaits the new heart not even I know. lol. Plenty left in this story.
