I normally wouldn't rate a Falken but these are getting good press and are nothing like the Ziex crap they make. It's a bit like Dunlop. pretty much everything they make is crap but now they have the new Sport MAxx and it's a great tyre.←No idea, what are the treadwear and traction ratings?Good luck, Michelin are a total ripoff. I was quoted about $1100 for a 285/30 20.Michelin PS2's are not a rip off, lets see you find a better perfoming road tyre..You wont, and that is why they cost so much.None of the tyres people rave on about here (v103, re050, proxies, rosso, preceda etc..) come close to the PS2.If you want a quality performance tyre be prepared to pay for it.←I do pay for performance, but about half-the price as the Michelin. They are a rip-off as they are not worth twice the price of their excellent competitors. Michelin Australia price gouges like most European companies seem to do. Why is it that our $1000 tyre cost $400US, yet prices for other tyres are much more competitive with the US price. As for finding a better performing road tyre that's a matter of opinion isn't it. To me wet traction is the most important and the Michelins are not the best in the wet.

Very nice.←That treadwear is harder than the Falken Ziex, I personally would stay away from them, however I'd still try them out if given the opportunity. To me wet traction is the most important and the Michelins are not the best in the wet.←It is not only my opinion that Michelin PS2's are the best road tyre. They win every tyre review around the world hands down. The good things said about the PS2 are: Grippiest dry/wet tyre available, quietest tyre available, best all round performing tyre available. The only bad thing ever said about the tyre, especially in America is the treadwear. With a rating of 220 the tyres will be lucky to see 20 - 30,000kms with hard driving (not including burnouts, you buy these tyres for gripping, not smoking). They are superior in the wet, their wet grip is just as good as their dry grip. For example, if you are in Sydney you would know the round bend from the Cahill express way on ramp to the harbour bridge. That is a 270 degree bend with a rating of 45km/h.In a Golf GTI with Continental Sport Contact 2's which everyone on the VW forums rave on and on about, and are standard equipment on a lot of Euro Performance cars I managed to get up to 70km/h in the dry oversteering into the outside lane.On PS2's I got 110km/h in the dry, and in pissing down rain a couple of days I hit 100km/h whilst staying in my own lane at all times. On both occasions they still had more in them but I was too scared to push it further (walls on both sides and not my car). This is just one of the reason why the PS2's are standard on the high end ferrari's, lamborghini's, porches, bugatti veyron, konisegg CCR, etc..No other tyre can claim that. Sure it's always near the top, but not at the top. Have a look at tirerack.com and see the surveys of thousands of owners; the Michelins are rated 2 or 3 overall, and it's wet grip that drags it down a bit. As for the best wet weather tyre, again every forum, and tyre site I've seen generally has the consensus the Gs-D3 are the best and they are easily the best I've tried. I've never seen anybody rate the Continentals as anything special in the wet, so I wouldn't use that as the benchmark. I'll give up some of the Michelin's superior dry grip for a slightly better all round tyre. As for OE equipment, it seems to me that many of the so called exotics use many different tyres, including Pirelli, Bridgestone, Continental, Goodyear, Dunlop, Yokohama as well.Even if the Michelin is the best, at the price they want I'll accept a tyre that's 95% as good and half-the price. Posted 01/11/06 02:25 AM Share Posted 01/11/06 02:25 AM I have the Michelin PS2's. They are far and away the best tyre I have ever owned.Everything that Cro said is spot on. I have the 275/30/19's and imported them from the USA myself. They are only on the rear and cost $850 each once on the car. I don't think they are nessecary on the front. Alot of the good alternatives will do the job up front. If your going to spend $1000's of dollars modding your car to get mega KW's spend alittle extra on quality tyres to get the most out of your power.Geea. When you say fronts, does that mean they have spent there entire life on the front, and how many times have they been balanced wheel aligned etc?have only just scraped 34 k out of the original 17's and they have been rotated, balanced and wheel alinged @ 10 thou and 20 thou, did not do them at 30 thou, as I am about to change.Scotty Edited 01/11/06 06:06 AM by Kimberley Scott
