19" Tyre Price Comparison

Guest

Recommended Posts

I settled on the Toyo Proxes 4 and got them for $359 a corner.

Whether that's the best price or not remains to be seen but it was one stop shopping and I got a good deal on rims also so I'm happy enough.

Tyres appear to be great but my purposes are probably different than a lot of others who might frequent this site.

They are a bit noisier but hang on really well and I feel better pushing it when the family is on board, so I am satisfied.

Thanks everyone

Latest word I have is the new Bridgestone RE050A are superb, wet or dry. Highest rated tyre on tirerack.com (check it out for excelent reviews) and even outrated the Eagle GS-D3 in the wet (which means they are amazing). No idea of price yet.

This is what the new VE's run on their 19" wheels.

Apparently they will cost about $600 per corner :spoton:

I wasn't very impressed with the RE050's that were on a VE Bogan special and also a BMW 330 I took for a spin. They both just wanted to understeer, and didn't want to get the power down on exits.

I'd rate them as a lot better than the tyres you guys are talking about, but nowhere near the performance of a Michelin PS2.

What about the new Falken FK-452. I normally wouldn't rate a Falken but these are getting good press and are nothing like the Ziex crap they make. It's a bit like Dunlop. pretty much everything they make is crap but now they have the new Sport MAxx and it's a great tyre.

Good luck, Michelin are a total ripoff. I was quoted about $1100 for a 285/30 20.

No idea, what are the treadwear and traction ratings?

Michelin PS2's are not a rip off, lets see you find a better perfoming road tyre..

You wont, and that is why they cost so much.

None of the tyres people rave on about here (v103, re050, proxies, rosso, preceda etc..) come close to the PS2.

If you want a quality performance tyre be prepared to pay for it.
