Its really starting to concern me now, this thud noise!!

Sounds like the left front wheel - Which I thought wheel bearings? So I took it into FORD they checked it and said no nothing there but you do have diff whine! :tease:

Anyway that was about a month ago, its still doing it but seems to be getting louder and only heard when I turn hard lefts. ie. like a roundabout or u turns.

Its a constant thud thud thud whilst turning.

Anyone know what it might be or have had a similar problem.

Any help appreciated guys, thanks in advance

Join the Ford Circus. I have a clunk in the front end in reverse & turning to the right at differant times. Have had the car back to the Dealer, supposedly checked & tightened the front end & it's still there. I have it booked in to a Wheel Alignment place today who are going to go over every inch of it, so I hope they have some success !

I have read this TSB & mentioned it to the Dealer when I put mine in. He stated that the BF Rack has the mod done, but agreed that the front does need a tighten up after a few K's. Unfortuneately I still have the clunk. I have personally checked the wheel bearings as per the TSB & the wheel nuts & all accessable bolts that I can get to both under the bonnet & inner guard including brake calipers. A bit of a mystery. The funny part is that it doesn't do it all the time.

Tab,

Had the whole front tightened. The Alignment bloke said that the nuts on the crossmember were loose, I said " How loose " & he said "about two turns". On driveing out I'm sure I heard a faint clunk as I was turning to the right. Will let you know after a couple of days as to the outcome, but I have a sneaky suspicion that its still there. I can't believe that it would be that loose after the Dealer said that it had been tightened. Have a sneaky suspicion that it may be the Rack. You can turn it lock to lock & there is no clunk, but this could change when there is pressure on the system in a turn. If they haven't fixed it than I feel that it is going to be a hard one to find, as it's intermittant.
