As long as the licence no. is correct, you won't have a chance defending it in that manner and a word of advice the penalty the police give out is not the maximum, the fines can grow much much larger, then add on court costs for each ticket. But it is your right to defend it if you want to.

Yep, that was the thingy that stuffed me :tease:

Only two points, no fine and no conviction recorded though. First time in court was a little bit nervewracking. :fool:

How about not paying an ACT parking ticket (if you live in NSW, and the car is registered to a company, and the company will be selling the car shortly after the ticket is due for payment). Hypothetically, of course :spoton:

Give some thought to the fact that when you rock-up in court with the said fistful of fines, the judge may get his nose out of joint and make things worse for you.  The old saying of ‘you’ve got nothing to lose’ does not apply in these matters.

I usually tend not to agree with that Kimberley chick :tease: but have to in this regard, it seems that you’ve gone a bit stupid and are now looking for loopholes to get you out of the sh!t rather than just accepting what is evidently appropriate for the circumstances.

Rubbish. Use the loopholes to your advantage. I have quite a few times, and to date have had 6 speeding charges dropped. I've letters from the Fines Enforcement Registry, Department of Justice and Dept of Attorney General stating the different charges they've dropped in the past. I've used information from the Honourable Dr Dennis Jensen (Member of Tangney, Liberal MP) to assist with my infringements. I've deep pockets to fight traffic fines, and am usually succesful. The WA Police are hopeless at prosecuting speeding fines, and would rather dismiss a case than prosecute.

You will need to engage in the services of a solicitor if you are to have any success. Magistrates hate amateurs defending themselves, and will extend alot more courtesy to solicitors. Ring the Law Association and ask which solicitors specialise in traffic matters. If you have multiple infringements from the same cop you can use that to your advantage, by establishing a pattern of incompetence. After all, if they cannot fill out an infringement properly, what chance do they have to operate speed detection equipment correctly.

As suggested, either pay the fines, or be prepared to spend big money to defend your case. Good luck.

How many over 45KPH at $1600 a pop have you seen go before the courts and then have the courts dish out even half that amount.

The same for the unregistered and uninsured at $450 each. How often are they taken to court and his honour simply gives out $100 or $200 instead.

The fines can go up, sure they can, but it just never happens.

Also it doesnt matter what errors are made on the infringement or penalty notice when it goes to court, only the evidence given by the issueing officer. Spelling mistakes and licence number errors are common and verbally corrected when the officer gives his/her evidence.

Wouldn't a solicitor end up costing as much if not more than the original fines?

Then take into account the time you have to take off work to attend court - not so bad if you are on wages you can take leave but if you are self employed it could be very costly.

Mate I know what your saying and in a lot of instances that is the case, but some particular Magistrates seem to do quite the reverse especially when they deem the reason for fighting the matter was a waste of their time or just plain stupidity. I know of one Magistrate who particularily likes to double the police imposed fine, although he is in my area. :censored:
