I recently got a fist full of fines (speeding). But looking over all the fines there seems to be an error on everyone which the officer has made. Either birth date filled out incorrect or rego number incorrect.

And I have been told but not sure if it’s true that if the information is not 100% the paper work becomes null and void??

For all information to be presented in court it must be collected in a lawful and factual manner. My advice, elect to go to court, but do not disclose why. Get a solicitor to assist you with the matter. It's called an ambush.

Good luck!

I think that "used" to be the case, but not so sure these days?? I guess you could contest it in court?? I'm pretty sure that these days, if they have your name, rego and everything else correct, and have a minor mishap with the birth day, I think you may be gone! But who knows... try your luck and see what happens. Mind you, the court costs might end up being more then paying the fine :laughing:

Mate there is more to this story, First of all it was 118 km/h whilst cruise was on 100km/h, then it was reveales that you had vastly larger rims with no calibration, and now multiple speeding fines by an officer who has made mistakes. Add to that in issuing of first said speeding fine you said it took the officer an hour to issue. Tell us the whole story and we may be able to help.

My offer of putting your car on the radar still stands.

All the cops need to do is get the offence and your license number right.

They can say you were driving a pink rocketship and it will still stick.

You could take it to court and say that all the mistakes on your fines can equal a mistake on the charges, but it would be a long shot.

If you feel hard done by, lodge a formal complaint about the officer, but if you gave him some lip, then he would thank you by draining your bank account in fines. I do not know why he detained you for an hour, but this does indicate some extra attention, normally generated by annoyance or suspicion

If you are pulled over, it is always best to shut up and fight it later. Cops do not write much in their notebooks about people who say nothing, but people that give them trouble are well noted, just incase it does go to court.

from my experience M6 is right with the solicitor..... you will need one. I went to court over a driving matter and lost despite the cop completely stuffing up the written infringement (which the judge would not let me present). The cop even got the car wrong in court. Still got spanked!!!

Give some thought to the fact that when you rock-up in court with the said fistful of fines, the judge may get his nose out of joint and make things worse for you. The old saying of ‘you’ve got nothing to lose’ does not apply in these matters.

I usually tend not to agree with that Kimberley chick :spoton: but have to in this regard, it seems that you’ve gone a bit stupid and are now looking for loopholes to get you out of the sh!t rather than just accepting what is evidently appropriate for the circumstances.

In NSW it used to be the case that any mistake writing the ticket would result in instant dismissal, however, when I got booked a few years ago the guy misspelt my middle name and got the date of birth and current dates mixed up!

However, as this was so common, Money Grubbers NSW (I mean parliament) passed ammendments that made incorrect tickets still applicable (or something to that extent). Confirmed first by our solicitor and then by the magistrate :crybaby;

May be different in Queensland, though, the laws are much of a muchness!

Lumpy :finger:
