I noticed that XR BFs are starting to flow through the govt auctions and the police are geting the 6 speed box....from what I gather you could probably get a BF XR6T or BF XR8 for late 20s depending on the kms ofcourse....For the price would you consider purchasing one?

I think they are a worthy consideration, for a price of high 20's or even low 30's. They should have no more than 60,000K's in NSW and other states can be much lower.

They are serviced well and according to there books, but they are driven and used in the harshest of fasions. In addition they all get the premium upgraded brakes, not the standard one.

If you can put up with a few extra holes in the dash console then go get one.

I wouldn't buy one with your money.

My brother is a cop and he wouldn't get one either. It's not so much the canings the cars cop, it's the fact that just about every time they are used, they are started stone cold and belted to redline. Quite often a car will be parked for hours, then a call comes in so the cops jump in start and pin it straight to the floor.

Another issue is that although they get regular servicing, it's only done by the log books and as most owners here say, 15,000 between oil is too much, especially when being flogged. Also, dealers find cop cars easy targets for cutting corners and not changing the oil.

Mate I had a ex QLD pursuit car, an EL XR6, and it as one of the best cars I have ever owned. I can see your concern, but they are worth considering, if you can have a decent l;ook before buying.

mines an ex cop car and ive had no dramas with it. Was good that it came wit upgraged brakes so it saved me 2k on that.

I think it depends were u get your car from. If its from main city yer it be dodgy but if its country den its better, its freeway kms..

With highway cars they are generally always running so they are always at proper running temp. Only down side is when doing say 300 random breath tests the cars have to be running in order to keep the lights going. I'm not a fan of cars sitting and idling for ages.

I know a cirtain highway officer in the shire who at the start of every shift washes and gives the car a once over.

Police cars are also serviced every 10k due to their usage

Agreed, a country car would be better, but being BF performance brakes are standard anyway.
