* The computer controlled rev limiter now cuts in earlier. It was around 300~400rpm earlier with the modifed vs stock exhaust when on the dyno.

I noticed this also when I took out the centre muffler. What was the normal rev limiter? I think its about 5900RPM isn't it? Anyway, I fitted a BMC panel filter and noticed that the rev limiter is now at a touch over 5800RPM so this has nearly bought it back to normal for those who are interested...

I have always thought my exhaust note needed an alteration. My XR6T sound was not what I expected for such a sports car but did not want or need extra performance. After reading so many posts and speaking to our local exhaust shop I decided to remove the centre muffler. I spent a little bit of money $300 to manufacture a stainless steel (2) pipe and fit them where the old muffler sat. I still have the original just in case I wasn't happy with the sound.

It centainly is a lot louder. The sound files are on a cold start in my carport with the door closed. Ventelation wasn't a problem. As you will hear the "without muffler" was a lot louder. I also recorded city driving but did not include them because there was very little change. From inside the car it was nice. It was a rich deep sound but from outside it was noticebly louder. A friend was waiting for me in her car and heard me come around the corner.

I am not 100% happy with it. It is better than the original but a bit to loud for people outside. It will never sound like a V8. It sounds hmmm potty. putt putt putt - but loud. I'm not sure what to do. Someone suggested adding a HotDog resunner. What ever that is. I'll live with it for a couple of weeks and see what you guys say.

listened too them both, and when I heard the second one, damn...not to bad, I especially enjoy the sound when you first started it. I would like to hear it while you are driving and getting a little under it. But sounds great!!!:blink:

I wanted it to, but sounds a bit to droney to me.Maby a couple of hot dogs would be the way to go, just to tone it down a smidchon. I know that SWMBO would freak if I did it.
