Awesome win to Lowndes Whincup and great drive from the Stone Brothers team for their fighting finish as they crossed the line next to each other. Such as shame Channel 10 didn't replay their last lap afterwards so we could see that battle as well.

Sitting on my balcony with my mate overlooking a major city intersection I was very happy to have the Ford flag flying proudly and to see so many guys out with their mates in various XRs, GTs, Pursuits and Typhoons. Everyone with a performance Ford was out cruising afterwards

The sporting Gods have been smiling, Eagles last week, Ford this week

Woo Hoo

Good to see the SBR powered cars up at the pointy end..

I have never been so on the edge of my seat as I was this afternoon. The last 10 laps were brilliant..

Well done Lowndes and Whincup.. For the first time in ages I have not been dissapointed in watching this great race.

Good to see Seaton and Courtney on the podium too.. I hope Seton can crack a win. He in my opinion would be the most deserving driver to win it.

Go ford

For once the DJR cars had good pace and then Steve went and blew it. Good result from the 18 car though.

Congratulations to Craig and Jamie - they did a great job in very hot and windy conditions to carry themselves as the inaugural winners of the Peter Brock Perpetual Trophy.

They look like they were GONE after the Junior Johnson Safety Car as their strategy looked out of step with the rest of the fied and they languished outside of the top 10 in running order. Jamie did a great stint, picking off slower cars without rubbing walls and ticking off the places as cars in front of him pitted and importantly, staying out of trouble.

Interestingly, their initially odd strategy call meant they spent a crucial 4-5 seconds less in the splash and dash at the end of the race to put the buffer against the very fast Kelly Bros in the HSV Toll Cars - who did a great job all day. It was a close run thing but that slight difference in time stationary in the pits was the difference although they were great under brakes into the Chase and across to what we used to call Repco Bend.

Good result for SBR too who have struggled with reliability in the last couple of years at Bathurst and 3 of the fastest cars were running SBR built donks (they supply 888, themselves and Cruickshank Racing and I'm wondering if they will support TKR next year as they switch to Ford).

HRT were very unlucky. The starter seemed to hold on a bit on the lights and Jack was very unlucky to be at the wrong place at 200-odd and with nowhere to go - Mark looked gutted about what happened but motorsport is like that. Also FPR had their share too - to lose a valve was odd unless Mark gave the thing a big rev wrong slotting a gear but it's unlikely we'll know.

One observation is that a lot of drivers ended up having accidents all by themselves - Junior, The Rat, Jason Richards, Jim Richards, Marshall, Halliday etc - as opposed to being clobbered (eg Skaife) although JB was getting more hits than Elvis. Dunno if this was heat, the pace, Old No 7 which should have been blackflagged a long time before it did eventually get the catch tank emptied or simply that the cars seemed to be very edgy this year...

Thoughts also to Mark Porter's family - I love motorsport but there are times where I just hate it for what it can do...

The Rat's crash wasn't unaided and the 34 car was black flagged for causing it.

What a day.

Meself & herself had the usual Bathurst BBQ Brecky with Champagne & Cranberry juice while watching the prelims.

First Beer about 10.30. (Copped a  look)

Prawns avocado etc on fresh rolls around 2ish. (With more shampoo and beer0

Mate Lowndesy gets the gong. Cant get any better than that.

BUT HANG ON.......What was that big new hotel complex being built at the bottom of Conrod.

A quick google and a few phone calls sees me hopefully with either a booking for next year or I will just bloody buy an apartment at the "Best Western Panorama Resort" 1 Conrod Rd, Mt Panorama Bathurst.

Got all me little sausage fingers crossed.
