I have noticed on my manual BAII turbo that when pulling up at lights the idle can go as low as 300rpm then come up again to find a steady 700 rpm. It does not do it all the time, I had thought last week I was getting lazy with the clutch and not engaging fully however its definatly not that.

It seems to be getting worse and today I thought it was going to stall. its only for a short time when the foot off the accelerator and its coming back to idle. If I'm travelling along at 80klm/hr place in neutral with foot off the accel it seems to go to 700 rpm very smoothly.

Anything I can check before I get ford to look at this.

thanks rob

just get ford to fix it, the throttle body will be gumed up a bit, or get a flash tune and have you idle lifted a bit.

Had exactly the same problem.

Go buy a can of carby cleaner.

Rip the intake off the throttle body, and spray a sh*t load down it.

Start it up, will run like a bitch, stop it, spray more, start it again.

It will take a few seconds to clear out, but u wont have the problem again.

Too easy. Dont know why they dont do it on a service.

Might be alright on the datto mate but I wouldn't be cleaning the TB with a can of carby cleaner!! All that :spoton: gets sucked into the engine... no thanks!

Mine does what you described when my air filter gets clogged... its the first sign that I need to take it out and clean it. If a new air filter (or clean if you have a K&N) doesnt help you then pull off the TB and give that a clean up.

are you just talking about carby cleaner? or do you mean head cleaner also?

its just ive had subi's for years and even up to my 05 sti head cleaner was used and improved throttle response, fuel economy and overall horsepower on the dyno and road was proven.. will this be the same for an t or fpv vehicle? the subaru gear is top shelf and even barbagello use it in some of ther euro's..

not bagging anyone or stating something, just want to know if a $15 buck can of subi head cleaner every oil change can keep my motor un-gunked from carbon deposits..

I wouldnt be too concerned about using carby/tb/head cleaner on these cars. the deposits in the trottle body are usually only oil that the engine has recirculated into the intake tract and this is disolved and burned when mixed with tb cleaner anyway. Steve if you can notice a drop in performance with a dirty filter i bet you intake tract (and TB) would be full of oil...my pay to pull it off and clean it out? (would be a good oppurtunity to whack some nice shimy blue silicone joiners on to mate.. :idunno: )
